  • We have been trying to get miss-sold PPI back from the Clydesdale since May 2012. They denied we even had loans with them so they couldn't say we had paid PPI! Luckily, we kept all the bank statements showing loan repayments and "insurance" payments which occured on the same day. The FOS have been working on our behalf since January 2013 and today we had an offer from the Clydesdale. After Tax deductions the sum consisted of premiums paid and 8% simple interest. What we want to know is should there also have been a sum for compensation and how much should that be? They have mucked us around for years denying everything and sending papers to the wrong address etc. They have also given us a timescale of 21 days to accept which seems a bit rich. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

MARBLES say they don't hold paperwork and have rejected my ppi claim but they do accept that there was a ppi policy on my account.
I've referred to the financial ombudsman but wondered if anyone had a similar experience and what the outcome was and how long this might take.
    thanks

The FOS will ask Marbles if they hold paperwork and if the response is that they dont then there is no decision for the FOS to make. They cant magic up paperwork.

The FOS will probably ask Marbles to check again and that may take 6-18 months.

No. The redress method is defined and the 8% interest is the compensation.

Which is completely in line with regulator-defined redress

The years where your complaint languished with the Ombudsman have been compensated by several years more interest at 8% which is far more than you could have received even if your money was in a high interest account. This is the "compensation".

Timescale is fine, just as the amount offered is correct. The sooner you accept, the sooner you will have it. You will receive no more.

Well, I never thought I'd be back here as all of mine, and my husband's, PPI claims were settled.

Yesterday however, DH returned home to a letter from Lloyds saying that they had reviewed his case (which was settled in 2011 for approx. £11k and found that they had miscalculated. So, they are awarding him a further £5k! Which is £4.5k after tax!!!

Shocked but very happy as we are expecting our first child in June.

I didn't realise that Lloyds were doing any reviews of past claims. Has that happened to anyone else?

  • Well after 12 wks ive found out that lloyds owe me a further amount just short of £4000 happy days😁 this is my half as the loans where held in joint names with my ex husband.
Now my next question is would the children of the marriage be due anything? My exhusband died and was married to someone else at the time of his death. But from what i can find on the internet his half of the rebate should be split 50% going to his wife at the time and 25% going to each child does anyone know if this is correct?

Yes they looked at mine again just found out im due just shy of £4000
  • I am happy - nay, delighted - to report that Egg (Barclaycard) have upheld my claim (2nd time around) and I received £1170 within 21 days of submitting my claim which was just before all the Christmas and New Year holidays. So they worked very fast.

So every one of my claims have been upheld, totalling £10,469 (including £249 tax on the last two claims which I need to reclaim as I am now not eligible to pay tax).

Oh, and I did all the claims myself - very easy.
I incurred the debt, I repaid the debt - all of it!:o DMP started with CCCS 20/07/2007 Was £32,735. Paid off all my creditors (June 2013) 7 yrs ahead of original DFD.
    PPI claims won against Barclays x 2/ Egg x 1/ LV x . PPI claims rejected and then upheld Barclays/Egg x 2

I wrote to Lloyds TSB in December because I had PPI on a credit card a few years ago.
They replied within a week to say that they were looking into my claim.

I received a letter from them last week to say that they will pay me £992 in the next 28 days.

So thank you Martin as I would not have written the letter if I had not checked on your website on how easy it is to claim.
  • I want to thank Martin and all the team for encouraging me to reclaim my PPI charges. After looking through your website and reading all the helpful advice, I decided to pursue a number of claims myself without using a claims company. I am absolutely delighted to say that I have now reclaimed over £24,000.00!!!!!! An amazing amount of money!!!! I would also like to say that I personally found the process very simple to follow and had no real issues to deal with during the claiming process (though I did have evidence in most cases that I was or had been paying PPI). I am so pleased that, with help and encouragement from your site and experts, I went ahead with my claims. Thank you so much for making this possible. Michelle, Cheshire
