Thank you to MSE.
I sent a letter off to Capital One a week before Xmas. On 29th Dec, I received a letter from them with a claim form. I received a letter advising my complaint has been upheld and have received £4500!!0 -
RBS are setting aside a further £500m for PPI liabilities it expects to have to pay out in future. Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0

Hi there - Hope you don't mind me asking, but what did you put in your letter to Capital One. I'm just about to make a claim from them and don't want to get it wrong. Thanks.0

You put the reasons why you think you were mis sold and had no need of this insurance.0

What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
Who was the provider: Capital One
How much did you get back: £0
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:
Using the template I made a claim for PPI to Capital One. They wrote back to me declining my claim. I then wrote to the Financial Ombudsman explaining my situation. After nearly a year I got a call from the ombudsman stating that I had completed my application for the credit card online and had voluntarily ticked the box for PPI so I was not entitled to any refund. I disputed this and was told that during my application if I had not ticked the box I would not have been able to completed the request.
As the ombudsman is the highest you can go I gave up trying to claim.

I've used Resolver (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/site/resolver) provided here by MSE for reclaiming mis-sold package bank account, dating back from 2007 until 2015. I signed up for Resolver and sent out a complaint in December 2015 and received a letter from HSBC beginning of this year to say that they are looking at my complaint. I then received a questionnaire 2 weeks ago asking for further details. I've dutifully answered it to explain the circumstances but I haven't posted it and has been sitting in the fridge until now.
This afternoon I received a letter from HSBC saying it has upheld my complaint and it will give me a refund of more than £1000. This really made my day, thank you MSE!0 -
Hi guys,im new to this so please bear with me!!
IN2006 I took out a loan with Barclays Bank for £2,500.
In 2007 I became unemployed and therefore defaulted on the loan.
It appears I was paying ppi, according to my paperwork I was paying
Barclayloan protection, which included Insurance Premium Tax(i.p.t.)
I sought out help in paying off my loan through UK DEBT HELPLINE
An agreement was made that I paid £5.00 each month.
I was married under a different name at the time I took the loan out, since then marrying again,
but was advised by UK DEBT HELPLINE not to inform Barclays of this name change in case
I got grief from them asking to up my payments.
I have not defaulted on these agreed payments.
Can I still claim ppi compensation?
Thank You for any assistance.0 -

You can complain. You will need to supply them details of your change of name and if your complaint is successful, they can use the redress against the debt as you are in arrears/defaulted.
under no circumstances should you use a CMC (as they will bill you against the redress paid even if you personally dont receive a penny of it)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
