  • Thank you Moneyineptitude.
A friend tells me the £25k figure might be something to do with a regulated or unregulated contract, but I was happy with the amount I borrowed.

I really can't remember what I signed back in 2007, and have thrown out all my paperwork since. I remember being in a hurry to rush getting the money so I would have signed anything ( crazy I know !! )
I'm just wondering if First Plus could just add ppi to the loan paperwork in any way and not point it out to me ?
I think I will pay for my paperwork file from them just to check.

No, they couldn't "hide" the PPI.

It will cost you £10 to confirm this fact.

I suppose you could refuse to read any terms and conditions and put your fingers in your ears when they cover the finance but outside of that, no, there is no way PPI could be hidden, it would be on the finance paperwork

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

The same thing happened to me, I got a bit of cash back in 2013 then in august this year I got a phone call from someone from lloyds sounding Spanish they new all the details and said my case was being relooked at, then I got a letter saying they were satisfied that they were satisfied with the original outcome but I could appeal, which I did, I appealed because most of the PPI was upheld, I then got a letter in October saying that they were still looking into it and I had 6 months from October to contact the ombudsman if need be. I've rang Lloyd's number a few times only to be told its still being looked at!! I'm not sure how to go about the ombudsman thing, is there a template to use for upheld loans? Thanks

You dont need a template as your complaint is already in the queue being looked at. You just need to be patient.

Thanks dunstonh I just worry a lot, also if I'm in the queue why did they state on the letter they sent me to say they were investigating it, that I had 6 months from October if I wished to contact the ombudsman? Are they playing games?
  • I had a Barclaycard mastercard and visa card from the mid nineties to around 2010 when I paid them both off in full and cut them up! I couldn't remember account numbers and can barely remember where I was living at the time. I certainly never asked for or agreed to PPI as I always had a steady IT job and could never really foresee being out of work.
Just out of interest though I asked Gladstone Brookes to check it out for me, not really expecting anything otherwise I'd have done it myself.
Well today I got two cheques for £1600 and £1400 - admittedly GB are going to take a hefty cut, but still more than happy with a 2.2k windfall!
It really pays to check. Barclays - the sneaky B*&^&^s....
  • Hey all long time no see
Im back due to lloyds messing me around again
I Contacted them in 2012 regarding ppi on loans and credit card i had with them after about 12 wks( n a email to the ceo) i was awarded a payout.
Then last yr after hearing about them not making full redress on some cases i contacted the ceo again and was told i would again have a response in 10 days which i did and got another payout on the card and they had found 3 more loans so got a payout on them aswell.
Out of the blue at the end of October last yr i got a letter about the credit card saying they owed me more money.
As they have looked at both loans and card not once but twice and still made a mistake i rang up about the loans.
11 wks later i am still waiting for a answer !!
Its with the ceo team again as they delt with last time .
Now the helpline has told me they are looking at 8 loans not just the 6 from last yr!
Getting fed up with them now and the ceo team have been useless this yr !

Given the PPI would have been on every single statement, I don't see how they could be "sneaky". Everyone and his wife thinks their job is secure and then an event like the crash of 2007/8 comes along and bang goes that.

Enjoy the winnings, don't use a CMC if you are doing any more complaints

There is a time limit set in stone that you have 6 months from a final response from the bank to refer to the FOS, outside of that time the bank can reject anything from the FOS so they have a duty to tell you this
