  • Hi.

    I have a quick question.

I had a cc with rbs around 2001. They knocked back my claim so I went to the ombudsman who upheld by claim. I finally got word after 3 years that rbs would be paying out. I called rbs who said I either needed to accept the blind offer or allow the ombudsman to accept it on my behalf. Is this right and what exactly is a blind offer and will it affect any pay out? The woman from rbs said it was normal practise and it would speed up the process if I accepted.

After successfully claiming nearly of my PPI years ago with the help of this site, the only one I had no joy with was GE Capital for my Evans store card. They basically said that the form was signed in the shop so they rejected my claim.

My claim was based on that I was never informed I was signing up for PPI, I was just told to sign the form to get the card. Both me and my sister took the cards out at the same time. At the time, we were both civil servants and so were covered for sickness absences, and we both had pre-existing medical conditions. This is the premise I had won all my other claims with.

I hadnt dont anything else about it until April this year, when my sister, who had also had her application rejected for the same reasons, received a form through the post saying that Santander were now looking at previous refusals and hers was being reviewed. She completed the form and 4 weeks later her claim was upheld and she received over £3500 back for an Evans card and a Dorothy Perkins card. She told me about it and told me to expect a form. I however, didnt receive one. I took into my own hands and filled in the claim form on here and posted it off, only to find out 2 weeks later that they rejected me for exactly the same reasons as they had done before.

I phoned the ombudsman and they advised that as they were not regulated at the time I took the card out, then I was unlikely to get anywhere, but to write a letter, explain that my sister had had the form and she had had her complaint upheld.

I wrote this letter 4 weeks ago, basically explaining what Ive said above, and also mentioning that my sister had been successful with the same circumstances as myself. They phoned me last week and confirmed that I was a civil servant at the time and therefore I had decent sickness cover and that I had a pre-existing medical condition.

I received a letter from them today upholding my claim and i am getting just short of £1,100!!! I am extremely happy and its amazing what a letter will do :):):)
You're so very special, I wish I was special

It means that they will make an offer after calculating it, they will be quicker than FOS.
If you accept and you think the offer is wrong, you can go back to them or FOS.
  • Natwest Loan PPI Success.
    :j

After reading alot of PPI story's on this website I decided to claim back PPI on Several loans from Natwest i had about 12 years ago. I Downloaded a template and filled it in with limited information just a bank account number, and the reasons for my compliant were Consolidated loans and i would have to take the insurance out to get the loan, and sent this off on the 24th march 2015, received a reply 14 days later to say they needed proof of address of where im living now so sent this off the next day.
On the 07th April received 7 letters stating they are pleased to tell me that there review has finished and it come to light that they were part of a consolidated loan chain. I Sent the acceptance letters off few days later and received 7 cheques in the post on the 07th May totally £7k well just under by a few pounds.

A big thank you to the guys on here who supply the templates for claiming back PPI:A, And the people who post to tell there stories, if it wasnt for reading these and downloading the templete i wouldnt know where to start........Now time to reclaim advantage gold packaged account charges.:D
  • Was very dubious about getting anything but read MSE advice, looked at cases supported by the Financial Ombudsman and decided to give it a go. Used Martin's template letter plus wording from Ombudsman cases. Outcome= 14,800 from Natwest - further paperwork but got their in the end. HSBC 13,100 very easy to deal with. So thank you Martin was well worth the effort

Very happy just had a letter from Satander offering just over 2k for MPPI. Just waiting to hear back about the loan I had with them, HFC and Egg card now. I'm supprised to see how many loans I've had in the past and just really glad anything I'm getting back is going towards paying current debts!

I always assumed I needed PPI and that they were too long ago to claim. However after discussions with a colleague who had success I found that many of the banking institutions now have online form to complete, making it even easier to apply.
I thought - well I will only lose 10 mins of form filling if they say no, may as well give it a go.
I made a list of all the banks and CC companies I had used and have started with my bank Barclays. I filled in their online form and waited.
Within a week I had a letter listing all the accounts they had found and which I had paid PPI on. They would now begin their investigations. Within a further week I had a cheque for £4700. I was gobsmacked.

I have now filled in another online form for 4 credit cards and will sit back and wait.

OMG I've just spoken to Santander about the loan PPI I had as I put both complaints in together and they have told me they have sent another offer letter out this one for £2.700! The original loan was for 16k but I paid it off within a year, does this mean they must have front loaded the loan as I was only expecting a couple of hundred at the most. I think the payments must have been in with the monthly loan payments as I didn't pay separate payments for it

Complaint against Lloyds TSB - won :j

My complaint was in relation to 4 loans and my CC. They could only find the details for 3 loans and my card.

I have received just over £1K for the loans and £2K for the credit cards. Loan refund went directly into my current account and I received a cheque for the credit card.

It took them the 8 weeks from them sending the acknowledgement to receiving the final response and a few days later the refund.

Thank you all for helping me get this back :T
