PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hubby has had a nice £4.8K PPI claim about 4 months ago - and I had a rather odd phone call from a company who stated that due to new legislation, they have information that I had an MBNA card which had PPI on it from before 2005. When they asked for £300 up front to deal with the claim - I hung up - came onto this website downloaded the form and filled in as much as I could (basically that I had a card, my name and my previous address)- 2 weeks later - a letter from them stating i"m entitled to £808 which will be sent in the post.
Happy times - off to try a few others - its a few pages of printing - worth it I think!0 -

If you had arrears on this loan, they can take any or all of the redress back.
You must make sure that they have taken the whole PPI amount off the loan and reduced the monthly payment.
They should send a letter showing what they have done.
Ring and just ask them to tell you what they did. Ask about the whole PPI being taken off the loan too.0 -
Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me advice on which route to go down next. I have had a long drawn out claim with Lloyds Bank over mortgage PPI taken out with Cheltenham & Gloucester that dates back to 1996. Although Lloyds have admitted there was PPI on this loan, because the loan was taken out in joint names, they need to not only speak to myself, but also my then wife. She has now been my ex wife for over 14 years and I have no means of getting in contact with her. Lloyds state that because they are unable to contact her they are unable to proceed with the claim. I continued this claim with the financial ombudsman and they have also responded with the same points. I divorced my wife over 14 years ago. We settled in court with a full and final settlement. Also, why can't they continue the claim and use the same percentage discount they used on the mortgage that they did pay out on which was also in both of our names. It seems they are using an excuse for one so they don't have to pay out and the financial ombudsman is going along with Lloyds argument. Any expert views out there would be welcome. Cheers0

Update.....I have just written to the Financial Ombudsman again vie email and informed them that I am not happy with there response and want them to look into it further. I can not understand why, when you have two different loans you are claiming for....(2 mortgages)...the second one they pay out for and retain 10% for my ex wife, should she claim at a later date, and yet they don't pay out on the first one and blame the issue being that they can't contact my ex wife for her side of the story.....?????0

Hi I recieved a part ppi payout in 2013, about 6 weeks ago I got a phone call for Lloyds to re examine my claim to see if they had correctly paid me as 6 of the loans were partially upheld, they sent a letter saying they were happy with their decision but I could contest it so I did, this was about 4 weeks ago, Ive rang them about 3 times and have been told that its being looked at, anyone else had this?0

I put a claim for PPI a few years ago to capital one which they rejected so tried again to which they answered 'We've already investigated this claim and it was rejected' I then went on to th ombudsman who after over year of waiting decided they could do anything because I'd gone to them after 6 months from the first rejection so is it worth me trying again any advice greatly welcomed.0

Unless you have extenuating circumstances as to why you did not take this further at the first rejection, I am afraid there is nothing you can do about this.0

You have already been told you cant after 6 months. It doesnt change a few years later as that is still more than 6 months.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
