I've just received £79.70 back. I had Sentinel Credit Card Protection which, obviously, it appears I didn't need. The payment only goes back as far as 2005 (although I had it for longer but I don't think the legislation applied way back then). Also, it was originally mis-sold to me for yet another reason because, when I tried to make a claim for assistance with repayments when I was made redundant, I was told I didn't qualify to make a claim as I worked part-time + slightly less than the requisite hours per week (which I think was about 18) - although this was not made clear to me when I applied for the card protection. I don't believe this has been taken into account in the redress I have received.
Repayment to me is made up as follows:
Payments made by me in respect of product on or after 14th Jan 2005 = £50.
Total redress before interest = £50
Gross interest at 8% simple per annum = £37.12
Tax deducted on interest at 20%
    TOTAL DUE £79.70
You only get back PPI you actually paid, do the bank have proof you only paid this from 05?.
If you have statements going further back than 05 that show PPI you must send copies of these in and ask them to look at your claim again.

Yesterday I received a letter saying they are relooking at my request, basically I don't understand all the partially upheld bit, if they have already paid me some why uphold the rest of the payments I did explain that I felt bullied into ticking the boxes when you need a loan you need a loan. The letter says I'm still eligible to complain to the FOS please can someone explain the FOS to me? Sorry I'm a bit naive in these matters, thanks

Lloyd's, no explanation as to why they partially upheld, I had 7 loans over the years 6 were partially upheld and one was defended, I don't have the paperwork, they paid me £4k in 2013 but about 8 weeks ago I received a phone call as the were reviewing cases, they sent a letter saying they were happy with the original decision but if I wasn't happy I could have it looked at again, which I did. Now just waiting for a decision but they mention I can go to FOS. Thanks

See what they come back with, you should have asked the reasons for the partial upheld.
When you know why, it may be that you can complain, or not, depending on the reasons, to FOS.
Post up when you get a reply from them.

I took out PPI on credit cards in 1995 and 1996 and made claims on both cards for redundancy so I thought that I would have no chance of claiming back PPI.

A few weeks ago I was perusing this page so thought why not.... whats the worse that could happen. I sent forms in to Barclays and Halifax and I have had calls from both. Today, I heard from Barclays. A refund of £6649 is on its way (they obviously have deducted the amount claimed on the redundancy cover) and this is the amount they are sending me within 4 weeks. Hopefully Halifax will respond likewise!

So to all those debating whether to send in a form or not... DO IT! Many thanks to all posters.... Christmas will be great and we will be able to have our first family holiday somewhere hot as a result of 10 minutes work filling in a form!

Hi, has anyone successfully claimed for PPI on a loan with First National Wagon Finance?

If so, who did you submit the claim to?

Looking on this site, I've found two possible routes:

Does anyone know which is the correct way to go with this company please? I think it was bought out a few times over the years.

    Many thanks. :T
Big thanks to Martin Lewis for helping us start to sort out our finances!!!:A

In June 1999 PPI was set up when I bought a car although I did specify I was employed and it was not needed. Within 6 months I had repaid the loan - the total PPI payment was only £250.

Despite having copies of all the signed paperwork which I have provided copies of to the company and the ombudman the ombudsman says it cannot be resolved as the companies they contact claim not to have their copies of paperwork - thus decline to accept responsibilty.

Why is it just because the company say they cannot find their records that they are allowed to get away with it. I am sure if I had defaulted on a payment claiming 'sorry, can't find the paperwork' I would have been tarred and feathered!

I was not being greedy as I had paid this against my wishes. It has been months of wasted time, effort, copying and postage and I did not find the ombudman very helpful as they encouraged me to persevere and yet seem to support the finance company.

    * the company was GE Money - so good luck!
