Received a call from Lloyds yesterday re four loan complaints. They are only investigating three of them as they can't find the detail for my fourth. I have a print out (from the SAR) that shows an online loan application in 2005 for a 'buy now pay later loan with ppi' but they can't find this so aren't going to investigate it. I was on the phone for 40 minutes and I should hear back in the next weeks re the three they are investigating.

Just to say I contacted Lloyds around 2012 to complain about mortgage, credit card and loan PPI. I always thought my branch were aggressive sellers and never felt able to refuse when given the option for PPI. I had various loans upheld and was refunded around 5.5k however my mortgage and credit card PPI where refused. A month ago I came home to a letter stating they had looked at my complaint on my mortgage again and decided to uphold my complaint and were paying me 3.5k, 3 weeks later I came back to another letter stating they were upholding my cc complaint and paying me 6.5k!!

I have now had a call from Lloyds looking into 2 more of my loans and I should hear back soon. My main problem with all the PPI I was sold was I was reliant on a full time and part time wage so I don't think the policy's would have been suitable! Also the branch I used was extremely aggressive when it came to selling products, I knew I would go overdrawn once and asked them to increase my overdraft by £50, but they managed to sell me a 5k loan (i was young and impressionable at the time) I have now changed which one I use. Hopefully I will hear back from the other 2 loans soon but not really that bothered if it's a no, what I have got back in the last month has gone a long way to clear off some debt and that has made me extremely happy!!

Just got off the phone with Lloyds, they are upholding my complaint and sending £1,300 redress!! I had no idea the 2 loans they were looking at would be so much, thought it would only be a couple of hundred!! I'm now well on my way to be debt free early 2016, I'm so happy :j

    Reclaiming: Credit Card PPI

    Provider: Lloyds

    Refunded: £134.31 in payments
£ 81.43 in Statutory Interest (before tax)

Letter written to Lloyds PPI Claims.

After reading MSE's guide on PPI I thought I was being misold due to having a small amount owing on the credit card (generally paid off monthly) and having a good sickness plan at work as well as death benefit. I shouldn't have been offered PPI due to the small values involved >1K at all times and the sickness and death benefit.

I read the article on MSE, downloaded and filled in the form and sent it off with the required paperwork which I had to hand. A week or two later there was a very brief telephone interview - can you confirm who you are, what you earnt, sickness policy and death benefit. And that was it.

A week or two later a letter arrived offering £215.74 as a refund with the compulsory interest subject to tax. I read all the paperwork and am now awaiting the arrival of the cheque in the post.

All in all a very quick and simple process for me. Full marks to MSE for the advice guide and Lloyds for dealing with it quickly and competently. The main bugbear has being having to pay tax to HMRC but you can't avoid death and taxes!

Refunded £874 something from Barclays for an Additions account going back to 2001. It took them 5 1/2 months or so, but worth the wait.

  • Santander have agreed to settle our claim , they have sent customer acceptance forms which we have signed and returned . They have however rang today requiring further info from my husband and will not discuss with me ( joint policy ) how can they need further info when they have already agreed to pay out ?
  • Martin, I can't thank you enough for all your advice, template letters and encouragement. At long last Cardif Pinnacle have paid out.
I had a loan with GE Money, PPI with Cardif Pinnacle. They had me chasing around since 2008. But with patience and the help of the Financial Ombudsman I have just had my last offer of redress totaling just over £22,000.
Thank you sooooo much and good luck to everyone still trying to get redress. Don't give up!!!
  • I have been paying PPI for 17 years. My husband is self employed, we felt pressured into taking the insurance out. Tried myself to claim back off HSBC they only offered to pay the first 4 years of the policy. My complaint has been with the ombudsmen for 32 months. Their initial finding was that they agreed the whole policy should be paid back and sent a letter confirming this to HSBC and me. HSBC did not agree with them and asked them to look into it again. Another ombudsmen has reviewed it and has more or less agreed that HSBC was right to offer me just 4 years of the 17 year policy. But they have not given this in writing as they told me that the FSA are due to change rules and regulations which could go in my favour but told me not to get my hopes up.

Need help with what to do next, coming up to 3 years since being with the ombudsmen!!!! :money::money:

The FSA no longer exist. There is nothing planned that will change the rules on historic sales. The FCA is looking at changing some for future sales though.

Its game over. An adjudicator decision can be appealed. An ombudsman decision is final.

You havent said what your complaint was and where the 4 years comes into it. it either suggests an early repayment of the mortgage or ceasing to be eligible and that is the period of ineligibility.

Most MPPI complaints fail. Self employment is rarely an issue for MPPI and pressure sale complaints after 17 years from the sale carry no weight. So, what was your reason for complaint?
Why did they refund 4 years?
Why do you think the decision is wrong?
