Santander have agreed to settle our claim , they have sent customer acceptance forms which we have signed and returned . They have however rang today requiring further info from my husband and will not discuss with me ( joint policy ) how can they need further info when they have already agreed to pay out ?
You will have to wait and see what the additional info is that they need.
It is possible that one department does not know what the other is doing.
  • My 2 loans were with Natwest Bank. You recently published a list of phone numbers to call relevant banks and lenders, so I thought got nothing to lose.... Gave them a call, the call handler took some basic details, name, address , bank details and when I had my loan. He got up details of two loans that had PPI added. Asked a series of questions regarding the Insurance and then told it would be investigated. Anyway.... Loan number 1 has been investigated and being repaid over £600; loan number 2 is currently under investigation. So for the cost of a ten minute call and ten minutes of my time it's definitely worth it.
If you do one thing today, give your bank a call!
P.S I initially called my bank branch two years ago and said I had loans 20+ years ago, they told me details would be in deep storage and probably have been destroyed.... Obviously not!!!
  • I bank with Barclays, over the years had 6 loans, filled in the claim forms myself, within 3mths received £16,500 back. Two claims were rejected, contacted Financial Ombudsmen completed their forms (using copies of originals), approx. 4mths later received another £10,500, then after another year got just under £1,000 back for o/draft ppi. This was great for me & so easy, do it all yourself & don`t let these reclaim companies take you for a ride. I even had a Barclays employee send the initial email thru to get the ball rolling & contacted them for details regarding dates etc. Do it yourself & good luck with the results.
  • Hi, I took out rather a large business loan back in 2005 and the bank forced me to take out a 5% interest rate capping policy and also life insurance for my partner and I to cover 400K of borrowing. We were told that without this cover they would not lend. In 2009 I got divorced and tried to cancel this policy but was again blocked by the bank. 2009 I raised an official complaint and was still forced to continue this policy. The policy was costing me £2800 a year and I came close to bankruptcy in 2010 and was still forced to keep it going. Early this year (2015) I received a letter from the bank telling me that I might have a claim. I didn’t know that these products were covered in the PPI plan, I sent off my application in February this year and have just received a settlement letter from HSBC, I took advice off this website and did it all myself with no agents costs. They have offered me £32,700 which covers what I have paid in and also interest at 8%. This will give a huge boost to the business and I am exceptionally happy. They have also given me the opportunity to claim extra costs for money lost due to the borrowing, I am sure that after negotiating this will also pay dividends. Their bullying behaviour put a significant financial strain on my business and brought me close to going bankrupt. However I must say that their professional attitude and speed of dealing with it as well as good communication skills has been refreshing.
  • We claimed as my hubby ticked the NO box to PPI. We had our claim refused by the Ombudsman despite no proof that he changed his mind during a phone call.
  • I contacted the Halifax (I still bank with them) after finding some old credit card statements from 1990- 1993
They upheld my claim and although not a large amount I got a cheque for £440 last week
I was happy with that as they paid me £300 interest on top of returning my original payments of £130
  • I claimed from Natwest for my ex and she got almost £4,000. We were rejected initially so went to the ombudsman who wrote to the bank for more information which they reviewed once it was supplied to them. They then told the bank that we had a case and had to review their decision. As I say she got almost £4k. The process with the template letters on this site was very easy and the whole process from start to finish took around 18 months. She recently had another letter from the bank saying they'd reviewed their original ppi refund and that she may be entitled to more! Can't praise this site enough really.

Righty ho! At long last I have my offer letter from the Yorkshire and Clydesdale Banks in front of me:

    - Refund of PPI Premiums and associated interest charges £34, 619.99
    - Total gross interest (pre tax) £6,477.07
    - Less basic rate tax £1,295.41
    - Net interest due (after tax deducted) £ 5,181.66
    - Total Redress £39,801.65

No money grabbing Claims Management Company taking 30% plus the attendant 20% VAT.

    Hi Marty

I contact YB as was with them for years, young and innocent, had ppi. I wrote to them on several occasions , requested a sar and they contacted me to say they only had evidence of the last ever loan I had and offered me £500. I did have about 6 loans concurrently. Despite declining the offer as I was adamant they were bluffing, they refused to take it no further. Do you think it's worth writing to them again? Thanks xx

You have 6 months to refer your complaint to the FOS from receiving their final outcome. If you go past 6 months, you are timebarred from future complaint unless significant new evidence becomes available.
