Hi Guys
I have received a potential refund offer of £191.73 this covers the following
Premiums
Associated charges
Associated Interest
8% Interest
Minus HMRC Tax
My question is, am I entitled to ask for any compensation? or are Capital One only obliged to refund me the above?
Thanks in advanced0 -
Compensation comes in the form of 8% simple interest added to the amunt refunded if it's a loan.
If it's credit card, the inerest applies differently but they have included the 8% above..
They appear to be refunding what they owe you.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
I've raised a PPI complaint for my old OD, loan and credit card. Also Argos card and I did it all around 2 weeks ago. Barclays OD PPI was upheld and received £810 for that.
Still waiting on others. I was surprised as I only gave them my name, address and the old account number, I didn't explain why I thought it was mis-sold to me.
Lets see what happens with the rest but if it wasn't for this site, I wouldn't have tried it so thank you.Littlewoods £0/£750

I have managed to achieve two successes and one failed ppi complaints
The two successes were HSBC who are my main bank, I've had multiple loans which were paid off etc early and was surprised to see £1,500 in my account from them this morning! I'm sure I'll get a letter in the post to confirm.
The other success was from MBNA, who I've had a credit card with since about 2008. Obviously been paying ppi until I realised from news reports and cancelled in 2011 sometime. I cashed in a check from them for £2,100!
My failed one was through RBS/Lombard who said that I was entitled to ppi, they did not mis sell and even though they encouraged ppi, they said that they did not give me advice and it was my own decision.
I'll go to ombudsman as I have nothing to lose but 2 out of 3 isn't bad!Former Debt free wannabe. Now trying to save for a rainy day!0 -
What spurred me to making PPI claims was the fact that my husband was going to get another company to do this for him. But they obviously take their cut!
So to avoid paying someone else to do the paperwork for us, I submitted numerous claims myself using all the tools on the website here.
To date I have managed to claim approx. £10,000 for PPI on loans - with banks; for new furniture, cars, watches, TV/IT equipment; mortgages; credit cards; etc.
I know it can seem a long winded process but believe me if you are successful it's worth all the time and effort. Plus it's your money not the banks!
Good luck to you all.:money:0 -
Thought this info may be helpful to others that have had success and could be entitled to more.
After using this site in 2012 I successfully claimed back the PPI I had taken on Halifax loan and credit card. I think I got back about £3000 in total.
I then get a letter from Halifax about 2 months ago stating that they have reviewed the claim on my credit card and had decided they had not paid enough and therefore paid out another £1100. I then went back to them and asked them to review the original decision on the loan (which they stated they would not review as the decision was made fairly).
Went to the Ombudsman and didn't even have to fill a form out - claim was upheld and just had another payment off them for £2600. Not sure if it was due to my query direct to them or whether the Ombudsman did actually get in touch with them.

Had Nationwide write and say they are going through my old accounts so I phoned. Apparently I have one mortgage ppi of which I had six mini mortgage loans (paid off now) and ppi on one!!! Very odd as wouldn't I have done all six? Genuinely didn't know has this. Loans are between £11k and £24k so one of these.
Then a bank loan of 21k (paid off with a £3 interest rebate) so paid £18k back in cash
Then a CC balance unknown.
All these were 2003.
Said on phone waiting to see if been upheld. I genuinely did not know I had ppi as always said no as have nine months sick pay in full and family who would settle had I got in trouble through whatever reason.
What's chances and curious to what I could get back???
Any help appreciated.

You havent stated your complaint reasons. So, we cant say.
Most mortgage PPI complaints are rejected. Most credit card and loan PPI complaints are upheld.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
