  • GE Money gave me all my PPI back plus 8% interest plus a gesture of goodwill

Barclays gave me £240 as a gesture for my last 12 months of PPI on my overdraft - and I've not even banked with them for 5 years!
  • Ok, this all sounds great. I have to send off my first letter to first plus. Should i start with First Plus directly or just file a claim with the FSO, and get them to do all of the work. Before I write has anybody got any thoughts.

    Hi,
you need to write to firstplus directly, telling them what your complaint is, as the FOS will only deal with your complaint if firstplus dont deal with it to your satisfaction! You also have to give firstplus 8 weeks to respond (which they seem to use as a delaying tactic!) but persevere as i received a final response from them after about 10 weeks with an offer of just over £5,000!:T
  • HI guys just wanted to ask if anyone has had a success with welcome finance, i took out ppi on a 5 year loan. and became ill, and called to make a claim on the insurance that would cover me for anything that i had wrong with me, and got told it does not cover stress. so i now beleave i can make a claim. I was also told i had to take the insurance in order to get the finance.

I am trying to get £1500 of charges of them in another issue, as i got behind when i was ill. but was wondering how people had fared with getting this mopney back off them.

We had success with Welcome Finance recently. Our claim was due to a pre-existing medical condition and being told that my partner had to have the PPI to get the finance. We sent the letters to Head Office and the local branch and got a response on the deadline of the second letter.

(We're going to tackle the charges next!)

    Good luck!

  • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
    How much did you get back: £2797.69 + £551.52 interest @ 8% = £3349.21
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: First Letter

Just wanted to provide details of my PPI success with HSBC, after deciding to write to them using the letter template provided on this most magnificent website!

I orginally wrote to them in November. After a wait of a few weeks I then received a letter to say that they were looking into my claim, and this would take approximately another four weeks (meaning a wait up to the end of January). Anyway, on 10th January I received a letter to say they were upholding my claim and were paying back all PPI plus interest!

I am amazed at how simple the process is. A postage stamp, half an hour to write and send the letter, and plenty of patience. All of these are required. No phone calls, no disputes, it was completely stress-free. To be fair to HSBC, they settled up within the timescales provided. My wife and I are happy bunnies!

Thanks to this website, and especially to Martin. My advice for anyone thinking of going for it would be - go for it!

I'm glad to hear you've had a full refund plus interest.
I've just had a booklet ! back from the HSBC on reasons why they've declined my reclaim. But I'm not giving up hope and have sent them a second letter to reconsider. If that gets a decline then off to the FOS we go.
I too sent my 1st letter to them in Novemeber and after 3 letters saying they were still investigating I finally received the decline last week. A bit gutted but I'll carry on with it until the very end.
Stories like this make me more determined to succeed.

Well done on your successful claim from GE money!!! I have tried to claim back my mis-sold PPI but they won`t budge after writiing 2 letters. They have basically told me to go to the FOS so looks like I`ll just have to take it up with them. Good on you though!!

Hi my first post so bear with me!

I too have had a issues reclaiming from HSBC and have advised me that they will not be supporting my claim on PPI.

Egg have taken 8 weeks to say that are still investigating so I have sent a letter to the
Financial Ombudsman for both of these cases and fingers crossed!

I read these posts every day and have seen many a success so here goes!

Great site :money: and thanks for all the tips from everyone it has helped a lot!
  • Well i keep checking these success stories and am hoping for the same luck. Sent off my 1st letter to HSBC september ish time had a 3 page reply about it been investigated then one after that saying the refuse to refund but can go an re-arrange the loan with no ppi at same rate but no Refund! Basically they said we cant proove it.
Seent back another letter (must admit i was a bit sarcastic) and have given them 7 days which is up tomorrow otherwise i will go to the big man!!
Fingers crossed i am as lucky as many of you on here.....
