After giving the matter some thought we have decided to accept their increased rebate offer of 78% of the policy and not fight for the interest, which means we're now over £5000 better off!!!!
Many thanks to all you wonderful people who post on this site and to Martin and his team for giving people the courage to go for it.:A0 -

i wrote to nortern rock to claim my PPI as i am self employed and they wrote back to say there was no evidence to suggest the sales person mis-advised and that i did not have enough information to make an informed decision and i wasnt due a refund and that i could reschedule my loan without PPI at the same apr of 5.8% my problem is that if i send in a second letter and either win or lose and try to cancel the PPi will they reschedule my loan at a higher rate of interest which may cost more in the long run. my loan is £5.371.67 over 18 months left0

from what ive read on here they cannot disadvantage you with a higher rate of loan if you cancel your ppi - and you should carry on with your fight - youv been paying for insurance you could never claim on ie unemployment / redundency and you will win
( if any of this advise is wrong please tell me someone)0 -
- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester
- How much did you get back: £2045.00
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2 Letters
- And then write your brief reclaim tale: I read through the policy and realised that my husband was not on the policy docs for the PPI despite it being a joint loan. I used your template and asked them for a refund etc. The first letter i had from them was a refusal of my claim saying that the advisor told me to read through the paperwork. I wrote back asking for an audio copy of the conversation they must be referring to and I had a reply saying that they would be sending me a cheque for all premiums paid.

I have just had a successful claim for PPI from Northern Rock after using your reclaiming letter template. I have been refunded 2 years premiums, approx £1500 - I am delighted. I held out little hope as I have had no success reclaiming against being sold an endowment from Commerical Union, nor would Cheltenham and Gloucester refer my mortgage exit fee so I had little hope in getting anything back.
Still waiting to hear from Direct Line and reclaim PPI from them so will send them another letter in a few days.
To anyone thinking about reclaiming just do it, for a few minutes on the computer and the price of a stamp who knows what you might receive.
Many thanks Martin.:T0 -
My OH has heard from Welcome Finance today regarding his PPI claim for his car loan. They have refunded the PPI payments plus the interest (well, I say refunded - they have applied it to the account)
Welcome completely ignored the first letter we sent, acknowledged the second saying they were investigating, and we received the offer on the last day of the deadline.
That's about £3500 knocked off the amount he owes :beer::beer:
We just need to reclaim all the £10 charges they have added for sending letters that say, "please call us"!
Thank you Martin :money: :T:T:T:TProud to be a Clob Clubber :beer:0 -
After watching Martin on TV talking about PPI, I thought I would try his advice. I had a consolidation loan from the HSBC which when I took it out the person who sold me it forced the PPI on me by saying I could only have the loan if I took the PPI out (this was an extra £90) but I was so desparate and wanted to stay with my own bank so I took it! I sent the letter in just before christmas 2007, after they had they customary we need to look into this matter further letter from them, a few weeks later I recieved a pleasant reply saying that they were going to reinburse me to the amount of nearly £8500!!!!!!! (this included interest etc on the payments) . So if you have had a similar experience for the cost of a stamp its well worth the effort!!!!!
THANKS AGAIN MARTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! :T:j:beer:0 -

Just to let you know I took out a small loan with Abbey in 2003. After reading your article on the website I decided to down load the template and have a go at claiming the PPI back. I have just been awarded £398.00 from the Abbey after they admitted that they were in the wrong. This was a nice suprise as it took little time and effort to do.
Big thanks to Martin :money:
and for anyone who hasn't done this yet it is so simple to do why not have a go!0 -
Received an offer today from the Alliance and Leicester of £1227.06 for PPI refund after I sent them a letter explaining I had a pre existing medical condition which wasn't covered by the insurance. They replied very quickly with the offer. I now intend paying off the rest of the loan with that money. Thanks Martin - I wouldn't have known anything about this without your help.0
