After reading Martin's article about PPI, I decided to contact the Natwest and see exactly what I was paying for. When I had taken out my credit card, it was done over the counter and after first declining the Natwest's offer of a card due to my being unemployed, the cashier said we could use my husbands income. The form was filled out and I ticked the PPI box thinking that if I was ever ill etc at least my husband wouldn't be left with a credit card bill! After a little digging around, I found out that unless I worked at least 16 hours/week the policy was useless and after a couple of letters (the first was Martin's downloadable one) saying that if the Natwest staff actually knew what they were selling, they would have realized that I was not eligible for the PPI in the fist place, a letter was sent yesterday saying that as a gesture of "goodwill", they would repay £914.00 into my account!
    Not bad - cheers Martin!
Onto egg now - same situation - think I took out PPI after I stopped working - will let you know........

I took out a £10,000 loan in 2006 with Alliance and Leicester and was badgered into taking out PPI which made the repayments £231.40 per month.

After listening to Martin; I used the templates to reclaim. In the first instance they denied the policy had been missold but I persisted. After writing a second time; they offered me a lump sum of approx £500.50 which I rejected because there was no mention of the remaining instalments/premiums. The offer was then increased to £653.60 plus a £40 reduction in monthly repayments for the remainder of the loan period. This I gratefully accepted.

The whole process took approximately 4 months.

I owe Martin and this site a great debt of gratitude.

If anyone out there is still dithering over reclaiming, get on with it, you’ve nothing to loose!

Over the last 10 years I have had 2 separate loans with the HFC/Beneficial Finance company. Both loans have been fully repaid, I no longer have the paperwork but know that I did take out the PPI with my first loan. Due to having no paperwork do you think I still have good grounds to attempt to cliam the money back or am I looking at a dead cause.....

hi i had a loan from citi in 2002/03 i no longer have my orginal credit aggreement i wrote to them back in dec 06 they have not responded i do not know if i even have ppi does anyone have any suggestions what to do next? any help would be great. i have had some success i started looking into my paperwork oct 06 and i was shocked just how much ppi i had,and still had i wrote to capital one oct 06 after few letters back and fourth i had a refund 0f 92.00.I also have a complaint going through with fos regarding welcome finance ill keep you posted how i get on with that one. i never new that ppi was opptional untill i heard about martins website thanks you are great keep up the good work.:rotfl:

Hi, i wrote to citi 2 weeks ago asking for copies of my credit agreements, i recived them back today. All i had was the last couple of numbers from each loan agreement & the date each loan was started. I got the info from my credit report from equifax. Write to them again & send it recorded delivery, give them a timescale & tell them if they don't respond within that timescale you'll report them to the financial ombudsman, as this information is your legal right. Hope this info helps. Good luck.

Hi, congrats on the refund from black horse. Please could you expand on your story as i am currently claiming from them & it would help if i knew what tactics they used, how many letters/months it took you. Any info will be useful. Many Thanks.

  • Hi Guys just reporting my first success, just had a call from DFS they are refunding my PPI its only £130 or so but thats a payment on the old credit card... as with babymarfs success December 07 I have to go in the store sign a new agreement they refund all the money and then I pay it off in 6 months time... now as it was interest free do I use that pile of dosh to pay something else of higher interest or just clear it and be thankful for my £130 hmmm now theres a thought ....

great advice here just writing my 2nd letter to capital one who advised they sold my ppi correctly over the phone, oh no they didn't got the card by filling in one of those forms they sling through the door lol and they never mis sell oh and this letter also says "capital one is not authorised to provide advice in relation to insurance products. Capital one would not therefore have made a recommendation that you should take out PPI, or advised you that the product was suitable" what the hell !!! so why then did they really beat me up when I called to cancel a couple of years back, me sending back a stinker me thinks...had a letter from MBNA Virgin loans they are investigating and will get back to me asap...has anyone else tried with Virgin MBNA loans???

will let you know how I get on...

    • What were you reclaiming:Loan
    • Who was the provider Alliance & Leicester
    • How much did you get back:£1662.36
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 2nd letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale
Sent standard 1st letter requesting reclaim because I was self employed and didnt want it in the first place but was pushed.
Reply saying I had the book, it was explained to me etc
Wrote a 2nd letter asking for a full list of differences between a employed and self employed persons cover. And quoting the missreprasentation act etc(Cheers Tiggrae for the help)
Today(day 56), letter offering full refund, £1000 which is arreas then the rest in a cheque, i'm going to ask them to take the lot off the loan then pay the £420 which is left on the balance next week.
So happy and thanks to this site for the priceless information.
Piece of advice for those looking to claim back, do your research 1st weve got a lot more rights than we a re led to believe. :D:D
