I am please to say we have finally won the ppi battle - Nemo personal finance.
It was a loan of £55,000, which brought it up to under £66K with ppi, it had taken over a year as it was also dealt with by the FOS, but mainly it was dragged out by Nemo themselves, so we received the first cheque of just under £11K a few weeks ago, then it was realised by us and the FOS that there was a mis calculation, so a few days back another Cheque arrived over over £2K.
Don't give in and you will eventually get there. :j :T

I am also waiting to hear from nemo, but i went through a broker so nemo passed on my letter to them, did you go through a broker? Also what sort of responses did you get. My PPI is also for about the same amount as you got back, any help would be appreciated0 -
hi all. im not sure how much we borrowed or paid as we finished the loan early but sent a claim to abbey national just after christmas for just under £2000. i fully expected to have to go the thre letter route and never got my hopes up in case we got nothing (after all when you pay this you never expect to find out it was wrong and get it back). well today we have had a letter that says after conducting a thorough investigation, i can confirm that i am upholding your complaint and would like to offer you £1273.42 in full and final settlement.
needless to say im accepting this offer. im really happy with the offer and dont want to get greedy. this will make a big difference to our lives as it is at the moment and so im happy. also have 2 more claims going through. this is my first success though so im very happy.back to comping in 2017, fingers crossed :beer:0 -

curly,
Sounds like a secure loan added to your mortgage to get PPI on it, either that or some type of 2nd mortgage, who knows. You can only go back to them down the mis-selling route if you believe it was mis-sold, see the main article, or if you mis-represented, ie they knew there were details of the PPi which would make it unclaimable, ie self employed/unemployed, etc.
The other companies I mean on the internet, there are companies out there who sell stand alone policies for PPI and Mortgage Protection, I done a search on a £70k mortgage last week, and for unemployment cover only worked out at something like £6.50 per month, and for unemployment and sickness/critical illness it was only £11. My wife can't get CI due to a previous problem and the mortgage is in her name, so I'm in the process of checking all the paperwork to see what she is supposed to be covered for and they know she can't get CI cover as we also done new life insurance etc with them which the CI part wouldnt go through after a doctors check.
So in theory you can check your paperwork with Halifax and see how long they pay out for and it it's only for twelve months you'd be better(although I'm not an advisor) seeking out one of these cheaper covers, although make sure you read the small print to ensure when claims can be made, and if it goes back to day one, instead of day 30/31, some policies are like that I believe.
Hope this helpsThanks to all the competition posters.0 -
I sent my first letter last night, basically it wasn't made clear to me that the ppi was added to the loan amount and interest charged for the full term of the loan, we had a much cheaper insurance already in place but were told this was better and sold by the cashback amount after 5 years, however it wasn't explained the insurance didn't cover myself for sickness etc only life cover, or i wouldn't have taken it.
I just sold my house thinking i owed them the initial loan amount and the PPI was being added each month (we were given a monthly figure for the cost and that's how i thought it worked, call me thick) so now i will have a short fall of the PPI amount and will have to sell everything i own to pay it back, we are in a dire financial position and have no choice but to sell the house.
My question is, does anyone who has dealt with First Plus think we have a chance (there are other mis-selling points but not as strong such as the salesperson being pushy) and do you always have to wait for the tapes of the salesperson as if i could sort out a refund before my house completes i would be under a lot less pressure?
I'll update the thread with the results0 -
Can anyone help, Wrote to Welcome 2 weeks ago, since spoke to them and been advised they had not recd my letter. Now faxed it to them. Spoke to a lady who said that I could cancel the PPI but not the life or accident cover. To which i was never informed i had. I explained this and was told that they would pro rota payments and that my payments would not go down. Dont understand whay she meant by pro-rota payments. She then just told me to fax letter which i have done. How long do i give them, since they say they havent recd my 1`st letter.
Any help would be great0 -

Hi Lemonhead.
I have sent you a PM for you with my email details, so if you get the chance please email me and I can tell you more of my problems with these, yes we did have the broker called e-loan who found us a loan with Nemo, but the complaint was during the advance stage.
Despite that I'm sure I can still try to help you as much as possible as I know what these are like by now.;) .
So email me as soon as possible and we will get the ball rolling ok.;)
I look forward to hearing from you.
