PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi,
Having sucessfully got back about £4,000 about 3/4 years ago from egg (through a claims company grrrrrr) I thought that was it as I knew I had loans through my old bank but couldn't be bothered trying myself to get this sorted. I no paperwork and thought this would be a pain and also having just received the above I was happy.
Recently I was talking to someone who was telling me that they enquired with HSBC about a loan they had and within a few weeks they had a cheque through the post.
This got me thinking maybe I should enquire about the loans I had from my old bank (HSBC). Anyway after months of putting this off I rang them and eventually they gave a list of products tha I had with PPI.
So I have put a letter together filled out the questionnaire (which they told me to) and will be sending off tonight.
So fingers crossed.
Success got a offer today of £2100 and I still may have more to come.
Happy days0 -
Well done you, good luck with the rest. So easy to do just wishes everyone would do the same. These claims Companies are just as bad and have made a mint from thousands. It's not hard to do, as you now know. Good on you.0

Exactly we had the very same, well done you, we used the OBM and guess what, we also won. I have to say we had received a "!!!!!!" letter in more ways than one, so badly written, so that's what spurred me on. They need to think before they write me thinks.0

Well Barclays said that I was suitable for PPI and rejected my claim.
Complained to the Ombudsman and they ruled in my favour.
Just awaiting to see what Barclays offer me. Happy days! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0 -

Two years and four months, and I am still awaiting the outcome of my PPI claim. It is with the Financial Ombudsman. I have had updates via email and letter from the Ombudsman, every 6 months but it seems that the two catalogue companies involved are saying they are not responsible for the mis-sold PPI. The original catalogue company who made the cold call to my home, say that, as they sold the company on, they are not liable to refund the PPI.
How long can these claims run? Is there a time limit in which PPI claims must be settled, one way or the other? I have two friends who had both of their claims settled within 8 weeks, although they didn't do it themselves. They opted to have someone do it all for them. Both lost quite a chunk of their claim in fees!0 -

Their claims would have been easier than yours that is why they were sorted in the time scale.
If your friends claims were the same as yours, they would still be waiting too, a claims co can only do what you can, no more no less, they have no power to speed up a claim, if you had used a claims co you would still be in the situation you are currently .0 -
What were you reclaiming:
2 X LOANS
Who was the provider:
AA LOANS PPI SOLD THROUGH BANK OF SCOTLAND
How much did you get back: ???? £4000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: ???? SENT A LETTER TO BOS THEY SENT ME A QUESTIONNAIRE
And then write your brief reclaim tale
HI ALL SHARING MY SUCCESS SENT COMPLAINT LETTER TO BOS THEY SENT ME A QUESTIONNAIRE SENT THAT BACK ALONG WITH 2 SEPARATE LETTERS DIFFERENT DAYS WITH ADDITIONAL INFO THAT I FOUND, HEARD NOTHING 6 WEEKS IN ON 8TH AUG 2014 SENT CEO OF BANK A POLITE EMAIL HE RANG 10 MINS LATER AND SAID MY CLAIMS WERE BOTH UPHELD AND LETTER RUNNING BEHIND GAVE ME FIGURES ,HUGE SHOCK BUT A NICE ONE
NO COMPLAINTS AS MUCH MORE THAN I HOPED FOR HE SAID ITS BEEN PASSED TO THE MONEY DEPARTMENT AND EITHER ILL GET CHEQUE OR DIRECT INTO BANK.
HOWEVER THE LETTER CAME TODAY WITH FIGURES ETC AND A BIT ANNOYED WONDERED IF ANYONE HAD THE SAME, IT SAYS BOTH LOANS UPHELD BUT THAT THEY TRIED TO CALL ME (THEY DID NOT) AND THAT THEY DIDNT RECEIVE MY QUESTIONNAIRE BACK SO MADE A DECISION ON THE INFO IN MY LETTER AND THE INFO THEY HELD STILL ABOUT MY PPI SALE, TURNS OUT I HAD SINGLE PREMIUM PPI HIGH INTEREST
HOWEVER IM VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME BUT I KNOW I SENT THE FORM BACK ALONG WITH 2 SEPARATE LETTERS EITHER WAY THEY UPHELD IT
LAST QUESTION BIG CHUNK OF TAX TAKEN DOES ANYONE KNOW IF HMRC WILL GIVE THIS BACK AS I DONT EARN 10,000 A YEAR AND DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR IT BACK NEXT TAX YEAR
THANKS0 -
Give HMRC a call and ask, I am not sure if you have to wait or you can get it now.0
