MBNA
Amount £839.46, which includes associated interest, and 8% gross interest
I read on MoneySavingExpert that PPI was fairly useless if you were self-employed. I hadn't realised this before. I became self-employed in August 2004 so I rang the MBNA customer service number and explained this but they said that they their insurance did cover self-employment. However, they sent out a questionnaire which I completed and I received an acknowledgement within 3 or 4 days. I then received another letter saying there was a bit of a delay in my complaint. The following week I received a letter saying that my complaint was upheld! I couldn't believe it was so easy and I'd never have known if it wasn't for this website. MBNA dealt with it extremely politely and professionally. It is the first good thing to happen for me for ages!! Encouraged I am now challenging my Council tax band!! Thank you for a wonderful website.0 -
A few weeks ago my bank contacted me saying they'd been expecting a complaint from me re:PPI. I didn't think I had any but rang the PPI helpline to discover I'd had PPI on a loan taken out between 1993-1996. So I filled the form in and sent it away two weeks ago, today I got an offer letter. Of £1800, I was amazed given how long ago it was. Not as much as many others but needless to say being able to complain about something that took place in 1993 was great :-)0

Congratulations, that's good to hear, just shows you it can be done. So many more PPI's miss sold out there to be claimed not matter how old they are. Just wished people would look into these. It's their money after all.:)0

Halifax
Amount £2117.64
Really easy to do. 1 called them to ask if they could look into all my loans with them, the above was for 3 secured loans and an unsecured loan dating back to 2002, all were short loans and paid off with sale of home.
Received mandatory questionnaire which I filled in and returned straight away and a call from the bank asking various questions.
Weird thing was all upheld even though they say in letter they did not receive my questionnaire and couldn't contact me yet I clearly spoke to them and he even said he had my questionnaire in front of him. Not surprised as I've had previous really bad experiences with this bank.
Anyway, just awaiting the cheque which apparently takes up to 28 days to arrive, oh and only receiving half as it was on a joint account with the ex-wife. Oh well, something is better than nothing I guess
Now awaiting a decision on my mortgage ppi, critical illness cover on my mortgage, complaint against them as to how whole process took place as I was told in branch I HAD to take all my banking business to them, HAD to have a joint account and HAD to take out an initial loan to secure the chances of getting the mortgage.
Oh, and I have 4 ppi claims with Lloyd's going back as far as 1992 still in progress, but they can't even send the confirmation of complaint letter to the correct address.0 -
Using this site i claimed two years ago on a Mastercard. Originally said no so went to Ombudsman. Taken all this time but upheld. Barclays sent me a cheque which i returned as i did not accept decision, then they credited my account, decision was that they misold and Ombudsman tells me the way they now work out repayment has changed and they had overpaid (credited) me. No money back to Barclays.
The account that i claimed on was taken out in 1990 but the cards had changed so many times they said they could not find any records. They paid on an average of six years. This was my Mastercard.
During all this they sent me the original application signed in 1990, which i have used to make a second claim on the Barclaycard account. Within ten days they have replied to apologise for mis selling PPI and have offered me refund of £700 PPI payments but only going to pay an average of 85months interest. This using statement from 1995 is correct amount of average ppi paid over the period of time.
My question is as they have the original application and worked out the average PPI payments ( which i accept) why have i not got interest over the time from 1990. 24years.
Any help would be good.
The reason for winning was simple, always employed, statutory redundancy, company sick pay, does not cover five years being treated for the big c, if you go through this on a course of radiotherapy or chemo you are technically under the care of the oncologist (sick) for five years. The discharge letter will do.
Sorry, but this is life.
I do not give in, and as i went through five years of tests to help save others it is right that what is owed is repaid, no question or excuse.0 -
I posted on here a couple of years ago regarding lombard and was successful in my claim, however Rbs have just sent me 3 other loan ppi claim forms from lombard saying i may have been mis-sold ppi from these other loans i had with them. My question is i naturally though that when i made a claim on the first loan that i was successful with that the others would have been looked into at the same time?? Can anyone let me know if this is the case or not. Thanks0

I heard Martin on Radio 4 discussing PPI mis-selling about two months ago. He said that claims from a long time ago were more difficult but give it a go. I'd been mis-sold PPI about 20 years ago when HSBC was Midland. Luckily I still had the loan agreement. I had paid about £1,200 PPI on a £3,500 loan. I wrote to HSBC PPI complaints department setting out the details of my complaint using the Ombudsman form. Today about 6 weeks after my initial complaint I received compensation of about £2,200. Many thanks for the information.0

Great news well done, just wished more people would do the same, no matter how old these dreadful PPI's are.0

Reclaiming: bank credit card
Provider: Nat West
How much back: haven't got the cheque to hand, but about £108.
Direct or via Ombudsman: direct, from start to finish several months though as was in the pre-selection case also.
About my claim:
I have had my PPI cheque back, as has my husband. In my case it was against my bank who had craftily charged me PPI through its credit card arm.
I followed the template pretty much to the letter, but did add a paragraph to highlight my annoyance that I had phoned them about concerns about card security (I was worried at the time that my card may have been cloned) and while I thought I was talking to my bank, they'd actually switched the call to a third party who played directly on my fears to sell me their product.
I only subscribed for a year, but this has been repaid in full. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
