I'm now being told it could take over 4 years to resolve!
At least you are being kept abreast of developments. Do be aware that Banks don't appeal FOS decisions lightly, so they must feel the original adjudicator was in error upholding your claim.

I'd try to forget about this if I were you, no point becoming impatient over a decision which may not even go your way.
  • Looked at my bank account this evening as completing tomrw so just weighing up completion costs and seen £1,600 credited by Barclays for PPI refund and interest.....talk about timing!
  • Winstable how frustrating I feel your pain and frustration, still if they vote in your favour another two years interest will be added. This whole PPI miss selling seems to be reaching fever pitch. Some Banks seem willing to compensate, whilst others are not, how strange is that. Good Luck

    You are joking, right?
The peak number of PPI complaints was reached some time back.

Now, only the real stragglers and people with referred FOS complaints are still waiting. Winstable first had his original complaint rejected by the Bank two years ago and makes no mention of why this was the case.

Banks have set aside £billions to redress the PPI mis-selling debacle and each case is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of them).

Success or failure is not generally dependant upon the Bank concerned.

I have to say I'm not sure I agree with this statement. At the time I took out my complaint against Egg, I also done the same against Lloyds and RBS, both of whom paid out with minimal fuss within 12 weeks.

Egg have done nothing but drag their heels. Forgive me moneyineptitude for not giving out every detail of my complaint, but try to see it from my point of view. This is my first post on a public forum that I have had no previous interaction on.

Of course it comes with the money saving expert backing which is fantastic no doubt, however I'd rather approach things on the sceptical side first than throw in all kinds of information and later regret it.
  • Last year I reclaimed £3,000 from lloyds bank, it was really easy thanks to this website and martins advice I phoned the bank received a claim form filled it in and within a month a cheque was on my door mat.
this year I received a cpp reclaim and again thanks to martins advise on how to fill out form I received a cheque for £36,
My next thing to reclaim is more ppi from credit cards I have had in past and also bank charges for an account i didnt need, and as always i will be following martins advise. Thank you and goodluck to everyone trying a reclaim it is easy and if you don't try you don't get I was always told

The outcome of other complaints with other banks are completely and utterly irrelevant. Even the result of other complaints with the same bank are irrelevant. Each complaint is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of).

There are plenty of examples of Lloyds and RBS rejections and Egg upheld complaints.

No need to share "every detail" of your complaint, it's with the Ombudsman now and it's for them to arbitrate.

I was generalising and, of that, I am fully aware.

What were you reclaiming: bank loan
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £4985
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: used the form from this site, direct to Canada Square Operations

And then write your brief reclaim tale:

Had a loan mostly for a new car, but then later increased it by £500 as they offered a cheaper rate, then again to clear some credit card debt later on.

I got a decision within three weeks, they upheld the claim. The cheque arrived well within their 20 working days "after we acknowledge your acceptance form" timescales.

I believe the PPI check box was already ticked (back in 2003) and there was a "scary" why you need PPI story, which I found and printed via the internet archive.

Plus for a car loan it was probably stupid to get PPI (in hindsight) as you'd just sell the car if you had difficulties!

And finally I was in secure employment, in local government, with a part time job too!

Really surprised how easy it was!
PPI success. Banding success. Double Dip PCN cancelled! South facing solar (Midlands) and battery. Savings Session supporter (is it worth it now!?)
