I posted on here a couple of years ago regarding lombard and was successful in my claim, however Rbs have just sent me 3 other loan ppi claim forms from lombard saying i may have been mis-sold ppi from these other loans i had with them. My question is i naturally though that when i made a claim on the first loan that i was successful with that the others would have been looked into at the same time?? Can anyone let me know if this is the case or not. Thanks :D

If the loans were all consolidated then they should have looked at them, they may not have been hence the new form, send the claims in.

    • What were you reclaiming: bank loan
    • Who was the provider: Halifax
    • How much did you get back: £3051.61
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale: In March 2014 I received a letter from the Halifax inviting me to claim, the form was sent off and in May a cheque was received.
This loan was intended as a short term measure while the Halifax were processing a re-mortgage application in late 2005. We were struggling with debts and were planning on consolidating by using some equity. The Halifax advisor said "leave it with me, no problem" - infamous last words. By May 2006 we had been refused the mortgage and our finances were well and truly shot. Between May 2006 and November 2011 we were in a DMP and this loan was part of it.
We had not asked for PPI and as I explained on the claim form if we had known about it we would have claimed when Mrs. Mort had to stop work due to depression, something that led to her losing her job in the end.
I normally lurk in the "Debt-Free Wannabe" forum and here is a post I made at the time http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...postcount=1598
Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.

  • What were you reclaiming: bank loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £4700
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale:
I wasn't even sure if I had been sold PPI but I did have a graduate loan from HSBC after uni (around 1999-2000). I wrote 2 letters to HSBC asking them to look into mine and my husbands PPI as he had previous credit cards. HSBC wrote back to Hubby advising they didn't have any records of PPI. I got a letter back with a form to complete, which I filled out as much as I could remember and a week later I got a call asking some questions about when I had the loan and why I thought I might have had PPI. The next day HSBC called again and said they were looking into it. The following week I had a letter advising they were going to pay me £4700! 10 days later and the money was in our account! All from a 2 line letter asking them to investigate, best letter I ever wrote! :j If it wasn't for Martins advice to give it a go I'd have never bothered - thanks Martin!!

It was a waste of your time because you would have got the same result if you'd simply used the defined complaint process. You don't think the CEO actually dealt with your complaint do you? It will have simply been re-directed to where it should have been sent in the first place.

Complainants should only write direct to the CEO in extreme circumstances where the Bank have failed.

On the contrary, I respectfully disagree.
Of course I dont think the CEO dealt with my complaint. Did his assistant / team at HQ intervene and kick the PPI bods (in their unmarked offices) up the backside? Yes, on a couple of occasions.
Did they ring me back directly within no time at all and answer any questions I had and, to paraphrase, say "A chase from head office will spur people on to get your claim sorted out"? Yes, they did.

I'm glad I did it this way and would certainly do it again, without hesitation.

This may not work for all and be against procedure, but it worked for me.

You had no right to special treatment and will have delayed prompt action for those far more deserving. Your success was in no way influenced by the involvement of the "CEO" and despite his team apparently "kicking" the actual people handling your complaint you received exactly the same service as anyone else with a PPI complaint. The vast majority of complaints are dealt with just as smoothly as yours, especially now as the number of complaints is beginning to decline.

Your action was, I'm afraid, very selfish and should not be recommended to others unless the Bank have ALREADY made serious errors or shortcomings.
  • Thanks Mrtin,I took your advice and rang my bank(DANSK BANK )about ppi on my credit card. They sent me back a copy of the ombudsman template.I filled in what I could which was,t very much.2weeks later they came back with an offer I could,nt refuse---£6,018 .they went through my claim and I wassurprised that they went right back 21 years...I got a shock when I discovered how much of this payment was interest.Once again thanks....James3
  • What were you claiming:PPI on a credit card
    provider Egg

    After some advice:

Hello there, I'm after some advice please. In April 2012 I started a claim against Egg for the mis-selling of PPI for an old Egg credit card I took out in 2001 and closed in 2005. The company dismissed my claim so I took my complaint to the Ombudsman.

In December 2013, I received a decision from the Ombudsman ruling in my favour. In January, 2014 Egg decided to challenge the decision of the Ombudsman.

In February 2014 I received further correspondence from the ombudsman saying the case will need to be looked at again and this could take upto two years.

This case has been going on for over two years anyway and I'm now being told it could take over 4 years to resolve!

Is there anyway I can accelerate this process. I fully understand that the financial ombudsman have been inundated with enquiries, however I can't help but think companies like Egg are just continually refusing to pay out, sitting on the money they should be paying out until the absolute last minute.

Can anyone offer me any advice please? My patience is starting to wear thin.

    Cheers
