What were you reclaiming: 2 x loans
Who was the provider: bank of scotland
How much did you get back: £4658.97
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Rec'd letter from the bank saying that I may have been mis-sold insurance so filled in the questionaire and returned it. Was a few years ago so had no information on either of them just took the banks word for it. I couldnt remember how or why I was sold was completely honest with them. Today I had rec'd a letter saying the will refund me :j happy is not the word for what I'm feeling right now im over the moon, really wasnt expecting anything if I'm honest.
Big thank you to all on here who have been giving advice and info have been reading through some posts over the last few months £4658.97 english pennies are all mine :rotfl:so advice to people you can do it on your own dont use these companies to help you...0 -
I made a claim for PPI mis-selling back in November 2012 and was initially rejected by MBNA. Then, about two months ago, they wrote back to say they had looked at my claim again and could I call them to confirm some details. They asked about my then employers sickness and redundancy packages and I couldn't in all honesty give them any answers as the claim was from an account I opened in 1999.
I heard nothing for weeks and didn't really expect to as I hadn't been able to give them any definite answers to their questions, but yesterday I got a letter from them saying they were upholding my complaint and would be sending me a cheque for £2.2k! HOAR!!
That's next year's holiday sorted :money:0 -
It's taken me a while because I was a bit nervous about doing it although I knew I had been misold my ppi but I have claimed for the ppi on my Simply Be account which is now closed and my Halifax Credit card. I emailed simply be with no information other than my name and address, they gave me my account number, sent a form through the post and about six weeks later I have a cheque of rhem for £450.60, so easy to do and I didn't have to speak to a single person (I hate talking on the phone). My second successful claim was on my Halifax credit card, I phoned there ppi claim number they sent me a form which I filled out to the best of my knowledge, I then got a letter of them telling me I didn't have ppi on that card so they had closed the case??? I had current letter and statement stating I did indeed have ppi on that credit card so I sent a photocopy of these and they sent me the same form out again and about 4 weeks later I have recieved a letter saying I will recieve £1,304 in 28 days. Result!!! So easy, I encourage you aall to try and claim, whats the worst that can happen, the sky wont fall in as my GP says!! Thank you for this site and encouragement from others.0

Hi everyone,
I have had success with my CC company, sent a letter in, got a reply saying they were looking into it (wasn't too optimistic that I would succeed).
Then another letter two weeks later saying it was taking longer than expected (oh, optimism rising)
Then last week, a letter saying I was successful, to the tune of £3096. Cheque arrived on Saturday and is now in my account.

Hi, I have just reclaimed over £6000 of mis sold PPI back, I was mis sold this when I changed my mortgage 16 years ago. I used the form from this moneysaving expert site. After a wait of about 8 weeks I had a long detailed letter back from Lloyds/TSB saying that they did not agree that I had been mis sold PPI and would not be getting any money back, so I phoned the number on the letter, spoke to an operator and told her that I strongly disagreed with the reply that I had received, two weeks later I had a phone call from Lloyds/TSB asking more details of why they thought I had been mis sold PPI, I told them at the time of taking out the policy myself and my partner were in full time work, we had good savings, I would have received a redundancy package from my employer, I would have had at least 6 months on full pay if I was sick from work, also I told them my company had a good share scheme at the time so I received free shares each year and I was in their save as you earn scheme, basically for anyone putting in a PPI claim tell them as much information as you can as to why you think you were mis sold it, and its better to actually talk to someone, 6 weeks after they phoned me I received a letter saying that they now agreed that I had been mis sold it and I received £6110. So if your first claim is rejected do not give up, I think most people get a standard fob off letter the first time so ignore it and persevere with your claim.0

It is good for you that you won your complaint. However, generically, nothing you have posted indicates any mis-sale reasons. Especially with mortgage PPI. You dont have great sick pay benefits and we know the FOS have rejected complaints with 12 months sick pay with MPPI. Its monthly premium, so set up correctly. Redundancy package is irrelevant. The only possible thing is your savings/investments at point of sale. If they were more than 2 or so years worth of income then that would indicate no need typically. Apart from that you would have expected most to fight that complaint. Lloyds are so hit and miss at times though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I cannot explain why your particular complaint was reconsidered because you don't appear to have had a strong case in the first place. However, none of us here has access to your account details to comment further.its better to actually talk to someone0 -
Just thought i'd pop back and let you know how I got on.
I posted here for the first time back in the middle of May. Last week I received just shy of £10k!
Needless to say I was pleased. All done myself, contacting the head of the bank, even after they'd called me for 'the talk', I chased the status up and HQ hurried the claim up. All paid within the 8 week time frame, and all because of what I learnt on here. Thanks guys :j0 -
