PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

You will never get your late payment fees back. Any over the limit charges, unless they came from PPI payments, will also not apply.
You should get all the premiums back. Then you will get any associated interest added tot he credit card debt as a result of that PPI.
Then you'll get 8% for any amount your credit card would have been in credit, without the PPI payments.
Then you should get 8% interest on the premiums to date.
So if your premiums were 2850, and the account was closed in 2008, simple interest would be roughly £1350.
Get back in touch and tell them their sums don't add up, that if they need you to provide statements you can, and ask for their breakdown of redress.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Oops - just seen the PPI Reclaiming Discussion Part 5 thread so I've posted this there as well0

I'm delighted, I used to work for one of the banks and took out a loan to which PPI was added. I was working on the day I applied for the loan and it was added without this being discussed. The loan I took it out on was only 'live' for 10 months and then refinanced, to one without PPI, so I thought my claim would be minimal (maybe £80/100) however I have just got a cheque through the post for £500.
Thanks MSE!Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...it's learning to dance in the rain.0 -

Was only expecting these lower amounts so pleased that they paid out with no quibble - problem is, according to the paperwork, the loan is still in joint names with my ex whereas I thought his name had been taken off when the mortgage equity was transferred solely into my name (the loan is attached to the mortgage) so they sent half the £884 to him.
They say I need to talk to him, which I can't do as I don't know where he is. I have paperwork comfirming the transfer of equity and also a solicitors letter from that time which states that he confirmed he'd never paid towards the mortgage. Would that be enough to get the half back that's gone to him? Obviously the bank has heard nothing from him in the two weeks since he would've received the cheque so he's kept it!!
Thanks.
Further to my previous post above, I sent a letter off to the Halifax along with copies of the Solicitor letters confirming non-payment by my ex and the fact that I thought he was no longer named on the loan. I did bump into him a couple of weeks ago and he refused to discuss the matter so I know he banked the cheque!
Just had a call from the Halifax to say that there's nothing they can do now unless the other party contacts them (that's not going to happen!) or they receive direction from FOS.
Is it worth me taking this to the FOS or will they just say it's unfortunate but I should've known the loan was still in joint names. I don't want to go to the hassle of trying and getting stressed about it (I'm currently 33 weeks pregnant) if I come off looking dumb that I didn't know about the joint account but I do feel I'm owed this money and the ex certainly isn't!!

I recently helped my husband put in a complaint to Lloyds TSB, after years of him saying, "there's no point, they won't pay out" etc etc.
Anyway, they were very helpful and identified a credit card and a chain of seven loans, going back to the early '90's, all with PPI.
We heard from them last week, bang on the 8 week deadline, and they are refunding just under £16k!! To say we are delighted is an understatement! Thank you MSE, it was your guide that we followed and it was awesome. :j  :T0 -
Hi
Has anybody claimed PPI from Peugeot financial service.0 -
Hi,
Having sucessfully got back about £4,000 about 3/4 years ago from egg (through a claims company grrrrrr) I thought that was it as I knew I had loans through my old bank but couldn't be bothered trying myself to get this sorted. I no paperwork and thought this would be a pain and also having just received the above I was happy.
Recently I was talking to someone who was telling me that they enquired with HSBC about a loan they had and within a few weeks they had a cheque through the post.
This got me thinking maybe I should enquire about the loans I had from my old bank (HSBC). Anyway after months of putting this off I rang them and eventually they gave a list of products tha I had with PPI.
So I have put a letter together filled out the questionnaire (which they told me to) and will be sending off tonight.
So fingers crossed.0 -

We had a PPI policy linked to our mortgage going back to 1996. We wrote to Barclays, who's reply was a resounding NO. The letter was so appallingly written, I was so furious, so I decided to use the template on MSE, and sent all docs including the appalling letter to the Ombudsman, it has taken nearly 2 years, but what a result, £3500. I would like to also say that despite the time take the Ombudsmen did keep us informed through out as to where our claim was at, so a big thank you to them for that. So don't be put off it does work out eventually. Patience is a virtue. Thanks MSE the advise and information given on your website is outstanding. :j0

.....wow :j
- it has taken just over 2 years to get this far but today I have been told how much I will receive from my PPI claim - that was taken out in 2007, which I didn't realise I had, I was even made redundant during the period it was running.
Any way I have been told that I will receive just over £10,457.00 - how lovely is that!!!
The loan was for 19K and the ppi added up to just over £5k - I thought I might get just over £5k back so this is lovely.
I only claimed because I actually spoke to one of those PPI companies one day, instead of fobing them off or ignoring the call and said look I don't have anything with PPI on because I had cancer years ago and I'm sure they wouldn't let me have it, anyway the girl was adamant I did, but then I thought well if I have I will use this site to get all the info I need and do it myself :-) instead of letting someone else have my money.
Just hope it doesn't take as long to get the money into my bank account, as it did to get this far0
