PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I can only assume that they were trying to get away with the '6 year' thing and either someone pushed them into admitting they had the records or they realised just how shaky the ground was.
Regardless, well done on your additional payment.:T0 -
· Whatwere you reclaiming: Loan and Credit Cards
· Who wasthe provider: HSBC
· How muchdid you get back: £11,243.50
· Did youget it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just the letter downloaded from MSE
· And thenwrite your brief reclaim tale
I didn’tthink I had a case until a friend told me that if I was in full time work witha sick pay entitlement, other savings, death in service, critical illness coverand if required a better than statutory redundancy policy, I might have a complaintagainst the PPI being miss-sold.
So Ifilled in the form with very little information as I didn't have it pretty muchmy name address and a credit card number as I have done all my banking withHSBC for years I just ticked the boxes for all CC and loans.
Theygot back to me with details of two loans and all the credit cards detailsdating back to 1995.
I had aphone conversation with them about my complaint and it basically went the wayof when you took this out what did you expect? To which i replied that if I wasmade redundant or couldn't work due to illness I would have expected the PPI topay out, but I have been told it wouldn't.
so 12weeks later an offer letter arrived and I have accepted it today.

Hi,
Hope someone can help, and I appologise if this is in the wrong thread but it might be relevant.
Today I received the following letter from Amberloan, addressed from PO Box 22
The Bailey
Skipton
North Yorkshire
BD23 9AJ
It basically says something along the lines of:
We've discovered that, following changes to the CCA, we have inadvertently sent a number of customers, including yourself, incorrect info on their annual load statements. There was certain prescribed information the should have been inc in your annual statements to comply with changes under CCA and so we will refund you any interest charged beyond the date these changes came into effect which was 31st october 2009.
They are asking if you would accept a cheque, and asking that I fill a slip in and return.
I have phoned skipton/amerloan and it seems this is a legitimate letter. I'm waiting for someone from the amber team to call me back.
Does this mean they miss sold me PPI therefore am i entitled to more than they will offer. The loan ended in December 2011 so there is only around £120 paid in interest paid over that period. I'm not going to turn my nose up at this but my thinking is banks don't just give money away so maybe they are trying get me agree to an amount much less than I could be entitled to.
Can anyone help out... what questions should I be asking when/if they call?
Thanks in advance0 -

Nothing to do with PPI. They made an error which meant they breached the consumer credit act. You would never have noticed and indeed are not actually out of pocket in any way but the error means they cannot charge you interest for that period and they are refunding it. You are getting lucky. About to start the process, firstly to find out if I ever had PPI on any previous borrowing.
Thing is, I'm pretty sure I robustly turned down any offer to have PPI on my loan/CC.
I also haven't had any borrowing for a number of years so have no paperwork, although I recall who I have borrowed with in the past.
In which case this could be the shortest process ever!
I freely admit that this is a speculative thing.Sealed pot challange no: 3390 -
I freely admit that this is a speculative thing.
Ring them first and simply ask if PPI was applied to any of your finances. If you have cause to disbelieve them, then you can send speculative Subject Access Request (SAR) letters to each of your lenders at a cost of £10 for each.0 -
Using the PPI template and a bit of my time I submitted claim on 12 May and received cheque this morning for £265.14 from CPP for mis-selling. Seems about right as I didn't have the policy very long.
Shortly before the CPP cheque arrived this morning I'd just changed my electricity supplier from nPower to OVO - should be saving about £240/annum - we shall see! Hopefully a profitable mornings work?
Also, using your advice/template I'm now about to embark on claim direct against Monarch Airlines for an 18-hour flight delay last week. Fingers crossed and will advise success or otherwise.
Many thanks for your assistance/advice/templates.0 -
