PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

People who don't actually have any PPI don't make up any significant number of FOS referrals, only those who dispute the Bank's assertion that there was no PPI will refer.
Actual PPI complaints are reported to have as many as 50% of complainants without any PPI, but these are given short shift and do not clog up the FOS queue in the manner you describe.
FOS has simply been inundated and cannot cope with the demand.
However, only the very very unlucky will wait years for an adjudication.0 -
Hi All, I have lurked at the edges of this site for a while and have to say a big Thankyou to everyone on here who has posted, without your inspiration and guidance I would never have started to try to claim back PPI.
So here goes, early years in 2000-2004 I stupidly overextended with credit cards, just signed everything (I was so stupid!) it has taken me years (approx 8) to make an inroad into paying off my debts,I'm getting there, but my recent successes have helped tremendously especially when offering F&F settlements to the last few creditors: even eaving me with a little left over to have the first holiday with my family in over 8 years, no more credit for us, no more worrying if I'll have enough money at the end of the month to pay for unexpected things like the car needing a hughe repair, no more sleepness nights worrying.:j
So far the suuccesses have been: MBNA loan: 5577.554, MBNA CC: 2224.38, CPP: 1106.38, Monument: 1862.92, Citi Card: 3863.26
So pleased that the monument one was offset against my balance & I rec'd a little back from them in return, 835.21.:rotfl:
I did it all myself, was totally honest, saying I couldn't remember if I had taken out PPI, but would they investigate. All it took was the template letters (adapted) and the PPI claim form from here, a few stamps, a few follow phone calls from the companies to me asking for a few more details and all sorted in 4 weeks. So many many thanks, I would not otherwise have had the courage to have tried.:T0 -
Hi there. I put off checking old loan/hpi paperwork as it was all a bit daunting, but after reading so many success stories I decided what the hell. I used the templates from MSE and fired them off to half a dozen different companies. Some I didn't have any paperwork for. So I just sent the MSE 'send me details of any loans I may have had' letters. Well, NatWest replied with two old loan agreements, one stating PPI had been charged; in total £1700. Several others replied, half with no PPI and the other half with small amounts. So off went the other MSE letters asking for the money to be repaid. It was that easy! NatWest sent me letters asking me to complete forms but before I had the chance to fill them in and send them off, they sent me another letter offering £3000 back. Job done! Now working on an old HFC (now HSBC) loan. Fingers crossed! Without MSE templates and the reports of success, I wouldn't have bothered, so thank you MSE!! And well done to all of us that have got what was rightfully ours back! xx:T0

Like most people I had been putting off trying to reclaim PPI for some time on various loans credit cards and mortgaes I have had since 1998 - i kept ignoring the calls about it but one day I got a call at work from an agency who like all the others said they would do it for me and all I had to do was fill in a simple form. I eventually decided to give it a go...why not I had nothing to lose...and true to their word the form was very easy to complete even tho I didnt know dates or amounts.
I was totally flabbergasted when I recieved a reply from them 8 weeks later to say that all my claims with the RBS had been successful and that the total I was due to get back was over £19K!!!! :T:D:j
My only advice to anyone considering reclaiming PPI is first of all do not hesitate to do it and secondly do it directly with the lender yourself and not through an agency ( although Im sure they get things done quicker - their fees are astronomical! ) I had to pay the agents over £9k for their services which if Im honest "stuck in my throat" but if they hadnt acted on my behalf I would never have been able to do the things I have done with the £10K I received, so, dont be lazy,:p dont be scared:eek:, dont be dubious or doubtful in any way:(....if youve ever had a loan, cc, mortgage etc etc but not sure if you have a case for a claim then please take my advice and make a claim today.
You really have nothing to lose!
Good Luck everyonex

All they did was stick a stamp on your completed complaint.all I had to do was fill in a simple form.I had nothing to loseif you have a case for a claim then please take my advice and make a claim today.0 -

As is the standard FOS complaint form which a number of claims companies use as a template for their own.although Im sure they get things done quicker - their fees are astronomical!
No quicker. They post the form to the same free of charge to use complaints address that you would use and its handled by the same staff members at the bank. Indeed, some claims companies have such bad reputations, that the staff may look closer at complaints that come via them which could slow it down. I know a few complaints handlers and they say that they look harder with some claims companies. Even the FOS say they prefer to see complaints in peoples own words.I had to pay the agents over £9k for their services which if Im honest "stuck in my throat"
£9k!!! all they did was put a stamp on the envelope containing the form you filled in. Had you posted that same form directly to the bank, you would have got the full amount. You really have nothing to lose!
Apart from £9k. Just think what you could have done with that.

What were you reclaiming: 4 bank loans
Who was the provider: Lloyd's
How much did you get back: £8,200
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: phoned banks ppi line who then sent me a questionnaire to fill in.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: contacted the banks ppi line who advised me I had 4 loans dating as far back as 1989. They sent me the mandatory questionnaire which I filled in and 8 weeks later I received a letter with an award of £8,200. Didn't even receive the usual phone call to ask questions like I did with my Halifax claim.
Total claims won between Halifax and Lloyd's £11,000
Well worth 20 minutes of my time I think0 -
Mmmm there is ONE you must avoid at all costs if possible. DO NOT use an Agency to do what you can do yourself. They are making a MINT from people and it's not Rocket Science. Don't line their pockets make sure you keep what is rightfully yours. Use the MSE templates and go. Whilst it's great to hear some of you have won and used these so called helpful agents, it really grates. To think how much they take in charges for a few telephone calls and a few stamps for letters. So think twice before you contact these nice helpful people. It's Your Money remember that. You've already paid the price, for the mis selling of a product, so why pay again trying to get it back.0

Hi, everyone. I sent off 2 claim forms today. one to NatWest for a loan I had and one to capital one for a credit card. at one point I had a mothercare card, which I paid off. As I cut it up at the time etc after, I don't have details, but I seem to remember that I had a letter saying that the mothercare card had become another card. does anyone know what this other card might be? thank you in advance.0
