I'm trying to gauge my credit card refund of about the same timescale.
As you'll only ever receive a refund of PPI you personally paid, it's of no use to "compare" with others based simply on timescale.

Basically, the more you borrowed on your credit card, the more PPI you will have paid and so the more you are likely to be re-paid if your mis-selling complaint is successful.

There is 8% simple interest added to any redress.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes, the 8% interest was also included. It's just the wording of the letter that confused me. So you think it's a simple case of refund PPI premiums plus interest plus 8% additional simple interest?

Yeah, it's just saying what would you have paid if the PPI was never there in the first place - e.g. The premiums plus the difference in interest payments if the premiums weren't there.

  • Hi have been looking at advise on here for some time. I contacted my bank HSBC by phone at the end of July as knew I had, had a couple of loans on finishing uni in 1998 through to 2003. They advised me of three loans with ppi and account numbers for each. I completed the form advised and sent off mid august. Advised I would hear by 15 th October, but received an offer for one loan yesterday (approx 1100 plus another 1100 in interest). Contacted HSBC as was not sure if this was pay out for all three but advised this was the payment for the first graduate loan and that they are still looking at the other two! £2133 after tax very happy and still waiting on two. Thank you for the guidance in this forum
  • What were you reclaiming:PPI missold on a £5,500 loan taken in 2002 and repaid in 2007 (no idea how much paid as I didn't even have an account number)

    Who was the provider: HSBC

How much did you get back: £2798.33 after tax :T

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the ombudsman: used the MSE template letter. Received a call two weeks later (29th August 2014) letter dated same day as call arrived on Thursday, 4th September with the offer :j

Walked into HSBC branch today with photo ID and they're sending the documents in their internal post today (I have a copy ;)) No mention of this being offset against the £5k I owe HSBC and repaying as part of a stepchange DMP (yet) so I have requested it be paid into my new basic bank account elsewhere. Will clear over a quarter of my remaining debt and bring my debt free date forward 2 years :j

Thank you MSE! Not only am I taking control of my finances and getting out of debt but you have now sped that up for the price of a stamp and 50p parking to arrange payment :):):):)

  • Feeling a bit stunned here. I had various loans from @ 1995 onwards. ..lost the paperwork over the years...omly had one agreement number, no dates etc.
I had claim forms sitting around for over 4 yrs... read the sucess stories on here etc ....finally got round to ringing Lloyds.

They wrote back listing all 7 loans I had taken out with them. I returned the forms @ 3 weeks ago.

Just received an offer on four of the seven..... £10,695

The other three have been deferred as they want to ask more questions., which I find odd, as my personal / work circumstances where exactly the same.

So a BIG thank you to Martin & MSE and everyone who posted - without you I would of never of picked up the phone.

I was similar, it took me 12-18 months to get around to posting the claim form for my PPI. I had half filled out the form and put it to one side.

Found a spare hour, finished it off and had a cheque arrive in less than 8 weeks.

  • Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can help?

I applied to Natwest Credit Card for a PPI reclaim. I followed all the procedures (which have been successful with all my other creditors I had PPI with), but over 1year ago I received a letter from Natwest to say that I applied for the PPI on the original application form and they therefore were not prepared to pay out, and at the end of the letter they stated that this was the final response and if I was not happy then I had 6months to complain to the FOS.

I knew that I did not apply for the PPI at the time I applied back in 1994 as I was a student at the time so no point in PPI (or Creditguard as they called it at Natwest), but I had no proof. After approximately one year of this letter I found while sorting a copy of the original Natwest application form I sent in and I clearly did not tick the box, and I also found a few statements that show PPI for the first two years was not on my credit card. This shows that Natwest lied to me in their letter and I know they sold the PPI in 1999 over the phone (but I have no proof of that).

I called the FOS and they said I can complain even after the six months but it is likely to be rejected. I have applied via the FOS, as I am not happy that Natwest have clearly lied to get out of paying it! I was wondering if anyone had any experience of applying to the FOS outside of the six months period and if I am likely to be successful or if tehy can offer me any advice on how to be successful.

    Thanks!

This is just another example of the FOS call centre seemingly encouraging everyone to complain no matter the circumstance.

Unless you have very compelling reasons (a death in your immediate family, for example) for attempting to refer so long after the 6 month deadline then FOS will time bar your complaint.
