PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Write back and reject their decision, this was Single Premium PPI and it was in fact a loan on the loan to term end with interest, if you settled the loan early, you would have received a % of the PPI back but would have repaid the remaining PPI back in with the settlement figure, the PPI, total cost and unfair rebate at early settlement were not explained fully to you at the point of sale to make an informed decision, ask if they have proof that the above was fully explained to you and if not, ask them to look at your claim again or you will pass this to the FOS.
Thank you, I will try that0 -

can you confirm the contact details for Barclaycard as I've sent them two letters and not receive any replies. thanks
I went on the Barclays Bank page - PPI - printed off their form on the Barclaycard link and sent it as Signed for ...
They have 28 days to reply.
My branch advised that it was best to get proof of postage as a minimum. My acknowledgement and upheld paperwork came in 2 different envelopes on same day - it's the Leicester address on website/form.04.06.12 no debt:beer:
Now house deposit saving £24,000 and rising:T thanks to 2x Barclays PPI successes0 -
For anyone who thinks they have old PPI claims from over 6 years ago, it's definately worth taking an hour or so to make some calls and put in a claim.
For me it was as simple as this:- I knew I had PPI once but I couldnt remember which card it was with. I did remember discussing it over the phone when I took the card out. As I recall it, it was suggested that the policy would ensure I get the credit limit I needed
- I used the numbers and links in the PPI sections of this website to make contact with all my old card providers. A simple call with my details and each told me whether I had PPI and for how long
- Out of multiple cards I've had only MBNA had PPI assosiated with it
- This happened to be a card where I had a large debt, at times up to £10k
- They told me I had PPI between 1999 and 2008
- I went to the MBNA website and completed their claim form, printed it and sent it off. I also send off a SAR at the same time, so I could check all the details
- They recieved the claim on 1nd Sept, I got confirmation of this on the 10th Sept, they said they would investigate and confirm back in 28 days
- Today I recieved a letter upholding the claim with refund payable within 28 days
- Before tax on the interest the amount they are going to refund is over £14,000
Massive thank you for all the info and advice that is free on this site and the forums.
If you think you might have been missold, do some checking and put in a claim yourself.0 -
What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI.
Who was the provider: RBS.
How much did you get back: £4272.56.
My inner hoarder prevailed, found my old loan agreement where I hadn't agreed to ppi. Sent this evidence. RBS although using up the entire 8 weeks to reply, they responded upholding my complaint with 8% statutory interest.

I sent a letter off to hsbc as I had a loan and credit card with them back in 2007 but as they were passed out to a 3rd party I didnt have the details. I have received a letter backaadvicing they don't hold information on file after 6years (seems strange) so can't tell me if I had ppi. They also said I need to provide statments and proof of the insurance sold. Everything I have read says I don't need to send any documentation and that they should look into the claim. Any experience or advixe?
Thanks in advance0 -

Just had the very same letter, going back to 2002, I only have my bank statements to prove an amount was being paid to Beneficial Bank now HSBC, so I will phone my bank and have a little chat to see what information they have, better not be this 6 year rule, if others can do it so can HSBC, even if it has been passed on to a 3rd party or inherited from a take on.0 -
I got my letter and cheque from Barclays today for a further £2706.67, so it now looks like this..
- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: Woolwich (now Barclays)
- How much did you get back: £8,159.14
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After letter and phonecall & subsequent SAR
It's worth checking over what you're offered from the banks because if I didn't I could have missed out on approx £3700.
I don't believe that they did it on purpose, due to the complexities of the 'top-up' loans, but it's worth checking over their calculations and at least have a basic understanding of what you should be getting back.
Some further info..
Barclays made errors in the calculations, which they denied, but after the Ombudsman were involved they agreed that their calculations were incorrect and have sent a cheque for a further £5367.50; so Woolwich PPI complaint now looks like..- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: Woolwich (now Barclays)
- How much did you get back: £13,526.64
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After letter and phonecall & subsequent SAR, and Ombudsman
The complaint was with the Ombudsman for 16 months."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0 -
People who have complained to RBS, generally how many weeks has it taken from the submission of your complaint to hearing back with a decision?0
