Hi thanks for replying. we have just received an email offering us £8600 and that we owe nothing?! Obviously I am ecstatic about this and will be accepting this offer.
When we paid the £32000 is was all we could pay after the mortgage was paid off so never received a settlement figure. the £16000 was written off by GE and only since chasing PPI have we started to receive letters from a debt company for the £16,000.
    From Cardif
PPI premium refund (inc interest paid on the premium) £6111.13
8% simple interest on the premium £2553.35
    Deductions
    Current arrears on Loan £0.00
Previous refund of premium and claim payments £0.00
    Total Payable £8644.48

Not sure what to do about the debt now but that this moment we are just so happy and are planning a fab christmas (not been good in past years)
    Thank you:j

That is good news  you need to find out if they have taken the original PPI amount and the interest on this from the loan, this will reduce the balance for you then make an arrangement to repay any monies owing over a period of time and an amount each month that you can comfortably afford.

It is possible the loan was cleared by the mis sell you need to check as it is possible you do owe nothing at al, ask for the breakdown of thisl.

Thank you I will contact GE as soon as we receive the money and its safe in my bank haha.

Thanks for the advice and if anyone else is chasing Cardif and Ge, we were refused by both and told Karacus were to blame. FO rejected us and I contacted Paul Glen at Cardif (CEO) it has taken a year to the day from yhe original claim and we won!!
  • In July this year, I received a letter from Natwest regarding a loan I took out with them in 2006 the letter said that I may have been mis-sold PPI. The loan was taken out in one of their branches. Inclusive of PPI I ended up paying back around £39,000. I finally managed to pay the loan off this year.

I completed the claim form, explaining that it was heavily intimated to me at the time, that my loan application would have a greater chance of success should I take out PPI on it. I also explained that the actual PPI was not explained to me at all. I used some of the responses MSE member amersall suggested in my claim and today, I received an offer from Natwest upholding my complaint and with a refund of £8364.24 plus 8% interest of £2423.68 (£10303.18 after tax), I am extremely happy:beer:

I received the initial letter from Natwest in July, an acknowledgment letter of my response on 2nd August, a further letter from them on 2nd September saying they were still looking into it and my offer letter today 7th September. They say they will endeavour to pay the money into my account within 28 days.

Thank you so much amersall and MSE !:j
Received the money in full into my bank account today. Thank you MSE and Amersall :)
  • I claimed for PPI on personal loans from Alliance and Leicester.

I didn't have any paperwork other than some letters confirming settlement of the loans - just sent them in with the completed standard questionnaire, at the end of July.

After 1 follow-up letter on 4 Sept, and a phone call to repeat some of the details on the form, I've now been offered £1518 for PPI on 2 loans dating from 2001 and 2003.

Those weren't even the loans I had the paperwork for! So Santander have found them for me.

I wouldn't have claimed if it wasn't for MSE and the links to forms etc. I did send a letter earlier asking for loan documents (thought I couldn't claim without more info), but just got a rejection. The questionnaire seemed to do the trick!

:j:j well done, are they looking at the loans you have the paperwork for?
  • Thanks!

Yes, they seem to have followed back through my (surprisingly long) chain of loans, and found the ones with PPI further back than I had records for - then they've worked out how the PPI payments "rolled up" more credit on the later loans - all as the information on this site says the FOS calculate it.

I'm very pleased!! Already thinking of what to spend it on...

So as per my own thread about the FOS I just wanted to say thanks to all who've given advice here, to the creators of the step by step guides and lastly to the FOS for the £20k refund coming my way from Barclaycard. They messed me around for 2 years then rejected my claim, 14 months after Sending it onto the FOS Barclaycard have written to me today saying they're paying me in the next 4 weeks. I had no idea it'd be that much and am over the moon.

Well on my way to finally being debt free thanks to you all here.
