  • About 18 months ago ex wife made a PPi claim to Lloyds re our previous joint bank account and loans. Lloyds upheld the complaint and promptly issued a cheque for the full amount. However this cheque was made payable to us both in our joint married names!! My wife returned the cheque and explained that she had remarried and had a new name. Lloyds promptly transferred half the sum to her account and I have been trying to get them to pay my half for the last 15 months. I have been told consistently that it is in calculation and they will escalate my claim. The answer is always the same!! where do I go from here, has anyone got any advice please
  • I submitted a PPI claim and was declined by my provider - Lloyd's TSB. I went to the ombudsman & within 3 weeks they replied that without admitting responsibility Lloyd's agreed to settle. I received £6500. I then submitted other claims to Canada Square Operations (Egg Loans), Halifax & Barclaycard.

Canada Square Operations were amazing & I had my funds in 3 weeks. Halifax took longer and Barclaycard have been terrible.

Twice they have denied my claim as i don't have an account with them (I did). They have since admitted they wrongly denied my claim twice & will have a response in 3 weeks. I will not hesitate in going to the ombudsman and will be seeking compensation for the awful treatment I have received. So far I have a 100% success rate!

Response - I would proceed with the FO. Write to them with a copy of your letter confirming the settlement amount & if you have a receipt/letter for what you have received. You may be entitled to additional interest at rate of 8% as Lloyds have still not settled your claim in full

Hi How Much, I'm in the same position as you but waiting for an amount from Lloyd following FOS involvement, can I ask how long you held the card for and how much ppi you had paid. (trying to guesstimate what I may receive)

Response - You will receive interest at 8% per year plus the monthly premiums

No, you will receive 8% on any amount the account would have been in credit - for credit cards, it's different...

Hi I posted on here last night but I think in the wrong place.....newbie!
Cardif Pinnacle have upheld our claim (£40,000 loan with GE £6,000 PPI loaded on top) We have had an offer of £8,000 but only if we pay it to GE to clear arrears (£16,000. Loan defaulted in 2008, sold our house and paid them £32,000 along with £8,000 already paid)
We have said Noooo we'd like the PPI so they are reworking figures and we have been told we'll get less as not using it to pay to GE???
I dont understand this, we are expecting a response within the next week. Any help on why they have siad this would be appreciated please.

When you sold the house was the settlement figure £32,000 or did they give you a full and final settlement figure ?.

Did you still owe them money after the settlement and why did they come after you for the balance?

Did you receive a breakdown of the settlement figure?.
Have they removed the whole original PPI amount from the balance and have they included the interest on the PPI that you paid in the uphold calculation?.

Hi thanks for replying. we have just received an email offering us £8600 and that we owe nothing?! Obviously I am ecstatic about this and will be accepting this offer.
When we paid the £32000 is was all we could pay after the mortgage was paid off so never received a settlement figure. the £16000 was written off by GE and only since chasing PPI have we started to receive letters from a debt company for the £16,000.
    From Cardif
PPI premium refund (inc interest paid on the premium) £6111.13
8% simple interest on the premium £2553.35
    Deductions
    Current arrears on Loan £0.00
Previous refund of premium and claim payments £0.00
    Total Payable £8644.48

Not sure what to do about the debt now but that this moment we are just so happy and are planning a fab christmas (not been good in past years)
    Thank you:j
