How could they have investigated my complaint so quickly?
As already pointed out, all they had to do was check the date of your application didn't correspond with the period when they were still using pre-populated boxes for PPI. As PPI applied for online cannot be otherwise mis-sold because no one else is present to sell it, it's then a bygone conclusion that you receive a rejection.
The Bank are allowed eight weeks to consider complaints, but remember that for the majority of that time most concerns are just put into a pile waiting to be attended to. It does not take anywhere near eight weeks to investigate a complaint , it's normally just the sheer volume that delays a quick reply.

I will pursue it further, firstly with Canada Square Operations and then with FOS, if required.
Unless you are going to request a SAR, any appeal to the Bank will fall on deaf ears and just extends further the time you will wait before FOS adjudicates.

  • Hi all,

    I Got a letter offering me £167.67 (106.06 ppi I paid plus 59.11 interest Plus Simple interest 8%. £ 2.40 )

There's no apology , explanation or compensation for the money taken... What do you think I should do?

If you think this is the right amount then take the money & move on. If you have proof they took more ppi than they are offering back then send proof to them & wait for their next offer.
I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.

The 8% is the compensation, and do as quidsy said if you have proof of more PPI paid.
  • Hi All, My partner submitted a ppi claim to Halifax over a year ago, which was rejected. We too the case to the FOS, last September. Approximately 10 weeks ago, we received notification from the FOS that Halifax have agreed to settle and will respond in up to 8 weeks time. We still have not had the settlement figure advised to us, and when calling Halifax they conform they are still calculation teh figure! either its a staggeringly difficult sum of funds to work our or.... its lost in teh system.

We informed the FOS who saif they woudl chnase Halifax.

Can anyone tell me what powers the FOS have to deal with Banks that cannot keep to their response timeframes?

Or, is there anything else we can do to chase up settlement figure? We have no idea if its £50, £500 or £5,000.

My partner has called the halifax PPI number, but they give her the same story that "they are still calculating the figure" and can not provide any additional info.

    Anyone had similar experiences?

    Thanks in advance.

They won't apologise, the 8% IS your compensation.
