Last September (2012) my complaint for miss sold ppi on a credit card to mbna was turned down, I complained to Fos and on 4th September this year i received a letter from fos to say my claim was being up held, today I received a letter from mbna to say I will receive a cheque within 28 days for just over £9000....happy!0

Hi How Much, I'm in the same position as you but waiting for an amount from Lloyd following FOS involvement, can I ask how long you held the card for and how much ppi you had paid. (trying to guesstimate what I may receive)0

I had the card from 1997 to 2008, the ppi paid was about £4600.0

Sorry to here this. I received a similar letter recently and I'm not holding my breath that the Ombudsman will overrule the adjudicator. I hope the fact that I did kick up about the mis-sold PPI in 2008 (I took the loan out in 2002) will supply sufficient proof that I did not want it the ppi the first place. It was because of the fact that I wrote to the building society in 2008 that, Nationwide's attempt to kick out my claim as being out of the jurisdiction of the FOS, was reject. The adjudicator says I should have had evidence such as a recording of the call, if made over the phone, to support my view that I was pressured into taking ppi out, as this would have counted in my favour. Well, the pressure took place as I was about to sign for the mortgage, in the meetings where I was told it was compulsory and wouldn't get the mortgage if I didn't comply. So, this tells me that the FOS are advocating to people to record all conversations when securing a loan or in any transaction. Fine, I will and suggest you do too.
Either that or ask for anything you don't feel comfortable with in writing. There were also instances where PPI genuinely was a condition of the mortgage offer.
The problem you've got is that anybody could say what you have. I'm not saying you're making it up but for all they know you could be.0 -
I issued a speculative letter to CitiFinancial requesting PPI compensation for the premiums paid on my credit card - first letter received on 23rd Aug 2013 acknowledged receipt of the complaint. There was no requirement to fill in a PPI questionnaire...Second letter received 18th Sept 2013 upholding complaint for refund of premiums, contractual interest and 8% interest (although 20% deducted for basic rate tax????). Cheque to be posted within 20 days...£ 905.81 (for the price of a stamp). Not sure how successful others have been with Citicard but please get a letter to them if in doubt!!!0

After my PPI claim for a Morgan Stanley card was rejected last year, I submitted this to the FO. In August this year received a letter from FO to say Barclaycard would like to make offer as gesture of goodwill. On Saturday received a letter from Barclaycard refunding PPI and interest and cheque to be sent within 4 weeks. Big thanks to Ammersall !! I have 2 more claims pending - one which has been with FO for a year and another one with Barclaycard. To date 3 out of my 5 initial claims have been successful. I think the key is to play the waiting game as frustrating as it can be..you start out with nothing to lose so everything to gain! Good luck everyone!!Debt at Sept 2006 £63,500:eek:
Debt at Sept 2012 £24,400
DFD Dec 2012! (if PPI claims come in) !!

I have made threee claims - each with different circumstances and results:
First was GE Money who approached me with regard to a Lombard Finance Loan (of around £20k) which I had taken out around 12 years ago. I didn't think there was any mis-selling as such at the time other than a general feeling that I was being pressured to include the PPI to ensure that my application would be looked on more favourably. So I thought, "what've I got to lose?", filled in the form and sent it back to them. They upheld the claim and paid out a wopping £8.5K. I was expecting somethinglike £500....
That was in the middle of last year, so this year I decided to try a couple of others, this time on two credit cards I had.
One was with Capital One and I had statements confirming that PPI was included in my monthly repayments. I filled in the claim form, advising them, as per the Lombard loan, that there was a definite sense of 'take out the PPI and we'll look more favourably on your application'. Last week I got confirmation from them that they are settling to the tune of £6.5k.
The other one, more or less exactly the same circumstances as the Capital One card claim, was with Nat West for a credit card account. They have rejected it out of hand.
I'm not too worried about that as I have had more money paid back to me already than I had thought possible in my wildest dreams, but the fact that the other two paid out on similar (and smiliarly flimsy) evidence, suggets that NatWest/RBS are playing by a different set of rules than the other two... I'm woondering therefore if it might be worth escalating the Nat West claim to the FOS just on the basis that two have settled and one hasn't and, if nothing else, there is inconsistent application of the rules from bank to bank.
I've got a few more to go - Egg Loan, Goldfish Credit Card etc. but I'll need to get hold of copy statements etc. from the banks involved before I can do anythug with them.0 -

What reasons did Natwest give for not upholding? these are what you should be looking at to be able to take the claim forward, you must have reasons to dispute the rejections.0
