  • So had a straight forward experience of reclaiming PPI from Santander for House of Fraser storecard.

Took the card out in 2000 when I was a full time student - having read thread on MSE realised this was mis sold as I was not employed at point the card was taken out.

Filled in questionnaire from MSE, included copy of NI contributions that I had requested from HMRC showing was not employed, copies of student loan statements from years at university, and original agreement signed in store.

Posted all off to Santander end of July. Letter arrived today with offer for £3317.81 - Whoop!!!
  • I just thought I'd post a message of thanks after successfully reclaimimg PPI from Halifax and Lloyds Credit Cards.

Over the past 2 weeks I have been sent 2 cheques totalling £13,541. Which has cleared all of my debts.

The advice and the links to the documents to fill in were fantastic.

    THANK YOU SOOOOOO MUCH
    Kind Regards Bartyslarty
  • Claiming : Mis-Sold PPI
Provider : Freedom Finance / First Plus
    Settlement : £1200

My parents where contacted by a claims handler about mis-sold PPI on a loan they had and where willing to pursue a claim on their behalf (with a 30% cut of a successful claim). Me been me i did my research on here and decided to take on the claim myself. Thought i would share my success with our mis-sold PPI claim.

Provider: Brokered by Freedom Finance / Provided by First Plus

Since Freedom Finance had ceased trading i initially contacted First Plus since most paper work we had was from them. We got told since Freedom Finance brokered the loan/PPI they could not help and that i should contact FSCS since Freedom Finance are no longer trading.

So, i sent in a email to the FSCS with a summary of details who quickly sent out a questionnaire for us to fill in. We filled it in, packaged in the documents we had and sent it off.

    Success : £1200
We wasn't expecting a successful claim since we had received a cashback/refund of PPI after 5 years no claims (which they used as the main selling point) but after about a month we got a call from the company assigned to dealing with claims who basically clarified some details but was unable to state if our claim was successful or not. After about 2 weeks we got a letter in the post along with a check for £1200!

    Advice!
If you're thinking of reclaiming mis-sold ppi do it your self! Why pay a company upto 30% or even more for just sending a questionnaire to your provider! Don't fall for claim handlers selling tactics, all they do is forward your questionnaire to the providers/FSCS.

Anyone dealing with the whole FirstPlus / Freedom Finance + CashBack/Refund situation as long as your loan/ppi was after 2005 you have a chance with the FSCS and doesn't cost you penny to claim!
  • hi we got in touch wth mbna about ppi had a letter today to say we have been unsuccessful and they state that we did understand about ppi so with regret no refund where do we go from here????
  • Im sorry if i posted this in the wrong forum. I contacted capital one 2 weeks ago about if i had ppi on my credit, the answer was yes. So i asked to get a copy of the terms., Im a bit lost as what to do next because im not sure what the ppi section on the terms mean. Here it is. " If you purchase PPI you authorise us to pay the insurance premiums to the insurers in the way they request. When you authorise us to arrange PPI,you agree that the insurers will settle valid claims by making payment direct to us so that we can credit your account. We will use the payment to clear all or as many as possible of your liabilities to us under this agreement". Sorry that was very long i dont understand it any help would be greatly appreicated. I got my credit sept 2007

Was this a loan or Credit card?.
It basically means that you pay the insurance as requested and they pay the insurance company, if you make a claim then the insurer pays this to the card/loan.
  • Thank you. I have to send a letter to capital one to enquire about my ppi and if it was mis sold. They will contact me within 8 to 10 weeks reguarding the matter

So as per my own thread about the FOS I just wanted to say thanks to all who've given advice here, to the creators of the step by step guides and lastly to the FOS for the £20k refund coming my way from Barclaycard. They messed me around for 2 years then rejected my claim, 14 months after Sending it onto the FOS Barclaycard have written to me today saying they're paying me in the next 4 weeks. I had no idea it'd be that much and am over the moon.

Well on my way to finally being debt free thanks to you all here.

Hi was just wondering how long after hearing from the FOS upholding your complaint that it took Barclays to come to you with an offer.

You can send it onto the FOS and ask them to adjudicate. Mine was a 14 month wait but it's worth it. worst they can say is MBNA were right.
