PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi All,
I just wanted to post a message of thanks. I was down to my last £100 when yesterday & today I received 10 cheques in the post from Halifax totalling £9832.16 for being mis-sold PPI on 8 loans & 3 Credit cards over the past 15 years. (another cheque for £420 is on it's way):j
I've had 2 rejections from Egg Card & Mint which I will take to the FOS & I'm still waiting to hear back from Cahoot & Virgin Money.
I wasn't going to put a claim in as I thought I wouldn't be entitled to anything & I also thought it would be a lot harder but it is well worth a 5-10 minute phone call & it's hassle freeLight travels faster than sound.
This is why some people seem as bright until you hear them.0 -
What were you reclaiming: Graduate Loan
Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £1200
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: The standard letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale:
I took out a 5k graduate loan in 2000 in branch. The usual tough selling that you needed PPI to progress, they did not ask about pre existing medical conditions (I have one). Anyway, HSBC have sent offer letter today (8 weeks later) that repays my PPI payments (lumped into the loan) plus interest (minus tax - which I will claim back with tax return as I am stay at home mum at the moment).
Happy days.
Now my Debenhams store card to sort (with Genworth as of yesterday - as Santander declined) Hubbie has a 3 items of PPI complaints with HSBC too. So we'll see how all those go too.
So happy we bothered to look into our files (we have documents and statements back 20 years).
Urge anyone who thinks they have a claim to try it - only costs the postage.0 -

My letter has the amount offered, the interest due, and then HSBC say they will deduct the basic rate of tax on that interest. It's written in the letter clearly and also shown on the sums on a separate sheet.
They say " We are unable to pay this interest without the deduction of tax". It does go on about FormR85 or R105 for no tax payers. But clearly says they will tax me prior to the redress being paid.0 -
What were you reclaiming: Loan
Who was the provider: AA finance/ BOS
How much did you get back: £1938
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Form from MSE
And then write your brief reclaim tale:
My second AA claim and delighted to find the claim upheld. This claim is based on the fact ppi was not an option and just included in the overall repayment. I received a phone call at 4 weeks to check employment details and after 7 weeks and have just received a letter to say the claim has been upheld. Should get a cheque within 28 days.
Also last week after having m&s cc initial claim rejected I wrote back explaining did not agree and received a goodwill gesture of £100 which I will accept. Always worth questioning and glad I did.0 -

Oh, typical of me to get a new development... wonder if it has become standard of this bank. If so, we have 3 more claims with them. But hubbie is a tax payer so I guess it will save us having to work it all out > unless he goes into the high band which is possible if the all pay out (guessing that's unlikely).0 -

I'm pretty sure they can't reject a ruling by their regulator, have you spoken to the ombudsman?
FOS is not a regulator (that is the FCA) it is an independent dispute resolution service.
If an adjudicator upholds a complaint but either side do not accept the decision, they can ask for it to be looked at by an ombudsman who will have the final say.0
