Have been refused any claim by RBS re: PPI and now they state that they have not acted unfairly in reducing my Credit from £8,500 to £1,000!
Do I go to the Ombudsman as it's more than 6 months since I began the complaint?
I think you have 6 months from the final response of you complaint, and not the start of it.

As you are outside 6 months, you can now be timebarred from the FOS.
    Hi
I was under the impression that you had 6 months to go the FOS after the final response. Please can you clarify as I have had a complaint in with one bank that may be over 6 months now, I have not had a final response yet and it looks as though it may be too late for the FOS.

Since the Bank have only eight weeks in order to make a full and final response, why is your complaint still outstanding after six months?
You didn't reply to their "full and final" and ask them to reconsider did you? If that is the case then FOS may no longer be available to you...

Yes, prior to the Bank having had a chance to consider a complaint the complainant has no access to FOS. The clock starts ticking only when the Bank issues a "full & final" response and includes details of how to refer the complaint to the Ombudsman. Only in very rare circumstance (bereavement etc) is this time limit relaxed.

In July this year, I received a letter from Natwest regarding a loan I took out with them in 2006 the letter said that I may have been mis-sold PPI. The loan was taken out in one of their branches. Inclusive of PPI I ended up paying back around £39,000. I finally managed to pay the loan off this year.

I completed the claim form, explaining that it was heavily intimated to me at the time, that my loan application would have a greater chance of success should I take out PPI on it. I also explained that the actual PPI was not explained to me at all. I used some of the responses MSE member amersall suggested in my claim and today, I received an offer from Natwest upholding my complaint and with a refund of £8364.24 plus 8% interest of £2423.68 (£10303.18 after tax), I am extremely happy:beer:

I received the initial letter from Natwest in July, an acknowledgment letter of my response on 2nd August, a further letter from them on 2nd September saying they were still looking into it and my offer letter today 7th September. They say they will endeavour to pay the money into my account within 28 days.

Thank you so much amersall and MSE !:j
  • Hi, Im new to this site so please bare with me. I received an offer letter off RBS offering me just over £4000 and I signed the acceptance form and got the confirmation text etc etc. However I received a ppi refund into my current account yesterday (Friday) but the refund was only £1900 and not the full amount ? does anybody know why this has happened and if for each of the 3 loans will it be a separate transaction? it has really confused me. I have no arrears and the accounts are all settled and closed ( In 2005, 2006, 2008) so I don't know why I haven't received £4000. I cannot phone them until Monday to question it. any help or info would be great or anyone who experienced something similar. thanks, Allison.

They may pay each redress separately, as you have no arrears and the loans are repaid this is most likely.
