  • Hopefully this message will help all those with older loans/credit agreements

My loan was taken out in May 1998 (15years ago) so well outside the 5yr period

Luckily I had all the paperwork

Having applied to Barclays and being refused I took it to the ombundsman on the 6th of March last year. I didn't really expect anything due to the age of the loan. Having received regular corespondance from the Ombundsman (every 3 months, telling me that they hadn't forgotten about me) I received a letter at the beginning of August (expecting to hear the same story)

I was suprised to read when I opened the letter to find that I had been succesful with my claim

I'm now waiting for Barclays to contact me (was told around 8 weeks)

They owe me around £1100. Hopefully this will inspire those of you with older Loans/credit agreements to apply for your PPI back

Don't be counting your chickens just yet as the Bank can still appeal the adjudicator's decision.
Otherwise, well done on your success...
  • A huge THANK YOU Moneysavingexpert for helping me to get money back from Lloyds TSB - a total of £5 187.77 coming my way!! Yeppeeee!:j
  • Have been refused any claim by RBS re: PPI and now they state that they have not acted unfairly in reducing my Credit from £8,500 to £1,000!
Do I go to the Ombudsman as it's more than 6 months since I began the complaint?

You cannot approach the Ombudsman about a PPI complaint more than six months after the initial rejection. Unless you have extenuating circumstances, your complaint is over.

The Bank are fully within their rights to extend and contract your credit level as they see fit.

What are you going to do with this information, go around and smash his windows?
The Halifax Rep is not going to take responsibility for any mis-selling, his or her employer (Halifax) should be your only point of contact with regard a PPI complaint.
Of course I'm not, I am not that kind of person, but It gave me the actual dates of secured loan, and the dates when Halifax took the charge off......which was 2 YEARS after the loan was repaid.....I didn't think my actions were inappropriate.

How exactly did having the name and address of the Halifax rep furnish you with these details?

I was expecting a message of WELL DONE from the forum, not a bashing.

You need to explain this. The land registry, you said, sent you the name and address of the Halifax Rep who sold you the PPI policy?
How then did this provide you with the charge removal date and in what way did this actually help with your PPI complaint?

I'm totally confused, not begrudging of your success!:T

Yes ,Land reg sent the document we signed in branch ,with these details on it.
I have told you that over the phone I was given the date of the charge removal by the Land Registry .Which showed that we had not cleared the loan early,
I do not know if it helped with the complaint or not,but I think myself it was the pre-printed X on the loan agreement that we received prior to signing that did it.Plus our recall of the meeting ,who knows, they don't say.I do think that their offer though was low,but am aware that they can offer you what they like...which they did,and we settled, better than nothing.
