PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

  • so long story short: I've been in a DMP for 4 years, caused in part by two unsuccessful policy claims, when i was off work for a month. I made my last DMP payment in July. In May canada square operations contacted me on behalf of my Egg loan, saying i may be been mis-sold, and could i fill a questionaire...so i did, and after some waiting I got a cheque back £2,500 - two weeks after making my final DMP payment...:j
I had previously enquired about reclaiming PPI with my Lloyds Bank loan, but was told since i'd make a claim on the policy i wasn't eligable to make a PPI claim...but this got my thinking..I'd also made a claim on my Egg card than that was unsuccessful.
So using the MSE claim form...i went back to Lloyds and explained all this, and a very appologetic man said that, yes, i was entitled to claim, and he would look into it...and since my loan had be refinanced 3 times he'd look in to those as well...(along with my employment history and salaries)...so i got my letter back this week and all my complaints were upheld...or upheld in part. So i just got my cheque today. £11,600!!! :T
especially sweet since Lloyds put me through so much rubbish with my DMP.
So my advice is, give up a couple of hours of your time and fill out those forms. be prepared for some thorough questioning about your financial and employment history, but it's worth it in the end. Thankyou MSE.

Background: I was mis-sold PPI when I took out my Halifax credit card in branch 7 years ago, because I was told I would only be accepted to have the credit card if I added the PPI, and they never asked about or took any details of my pre-existing medical conditions.
I sent off my complaint form 6 weeks ago, and today had a letter telling me my complaint has been upheld. I've just checked online, and the full offer of £739 has already been paid onto my credit card. :j
So happy as I was expecting about only half that, and this amount has paid off my credit card, and there's enough left over to pay off my overdraft too. :)
    Thank you MSE!

Received an offer today from Lloyds £1600, 6 weeks and 4 days from there original acknowledgment of my claim.

The basis of my claim was a pre ticked ppi box on my loan agreement and also my employer benefits matching some of the ppi cover.
  • Reply from Tesco credit card offering £1300 refund.
It would be rude not to!

Two successful claims, both offering 8% interest on top of the refund. That's probably a better return than if I'd put the monthly premium away in savings!

I've also had a letter regarding CCP, who tell me they will be sending details of how to claim a refund :)
  • Filled out a form I got from my bank a few weeks ago, not expecting any success. This morning I got a letter from my bank saying my complaint had been up held and an offer of £1,175. Acceptance form signed and returned, thank you very much :D
Letter also states that they are investigating another loan and will contact me again, here's hoping :D

After initially investigating a ppi claim with one of those companies that keep calling by telephone we decided to look into making a claim ourselves. We went on this website and read everything relating to missold ppi and then 9 weeks ago rang Black Horse and asked them for all information relating to any ppi we had ever taken out, straight away they told us the dates of all ppi s and followed it by sending us the relevant claim forms. It took about 2 or 3 hours to sort out all the info but it was worth the effort because today we received a letter offering us £28000!!!!!!!!! Anyone thinking about claiming don't hesitate just do it.:j

Just to give an update;;Turned down by halifax, went to FOS last year.
this was a single premium policy, Halifax have now offered £2284 back.I accepted, even though they had sent us a low figure. They have in fact kept 20 months ppi to themselves,so that means that the 8% figure is also wrong.I sent £10 to the land regestry and got back the name and address of the halifax rep who sold us this, plus some other interesting facts, best £10 I ever spent. Still, it is enough to get those awful Leylandii out of my garden and a new fence ready for winter. Thanks to _taff and nee666, who gave me the confidence to go on with this, and helped with the wording of the complaint.:A

What are you going to do with this information, go around and smash his windows?
The Halifax Rep is not going to take responsibility for any mis-selling, his or her employer (Halifax) should be your only point of contact with regard a PPI complaint.

I thought that was a bit heavy too:eek: The person who sold us one of our PPIs is the mother of a very good friend of my DD2 - dont feel I can shake a fist at her every time I see her she was after all only an employee!

I didn't think the Land Registry were normally given that information, only the purchase price and details of the mortgagee.
