PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

We took out a loan with Bank of Scotland / in a face- to- face setting at the bank. We were given the impression that PPI was compulsory with the loan. We did all the templates/ letters to Bank, and they rejected claim saying :----" we have no record of a PPI"---etc. Next move was to F. Ombudsman who took on the case, but we had email saying it could be another year before we hear any outcome !!! --- this is after already having waited a year up to now !! What to do ? Write again ? Or just wait?
Anyone had similar experience???
You wait. The FOS will ask the bank if they have any evidence you had PPI. The bank will check again and if it is still showing that you didnt have it then the FOS will reject your complaint. I am assuming you have no evidence to show you had it as you would have supplied that to the bank before going to the FOS (as the bank can use your evidence if it no longer holds any itself).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I made a PPI claim and the bank came back and said ' we have never sold or in any way been involved in the selling of Payment Protection Insurance and therefore we believe your claim is invalid' We believe you are referring to our condition for an assignment of life policy which is not Payment Protection Insurance and was required by the bank as a condition of the agreement".
Basically when I got a mortgage my bank said as a condition I had to have a life policy - I was told I could NOt have the mortgage without it and I was bullied into getting the added illness in it too. I was told if I did not take out the policy the mortgage would not be authorised.
I tried to cancel the policy a few years later when I moved mortgage lender but received several phone calls from the bank (not the policy company) and I was told even my new lender would have it as a condition and If I cancelled it I could loose my mortgage with my new lender.
My question to everyone out there is do I have any grounds to receive any money back from this policy I was bullied into getting and keeping for several years for £66 pounds a month??
I would appreciate any feedback0 -
You have no grounds at all.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

This is all the feedback you need and all anyone on here can do is reiterate what the Bank told you above. You have tried to make a PPI mis-selling complaint about a completely different financial product, one which was required as a condition of your mortgage agreement.
There has been no mis-selling, nor indeed any PPI.0 -
I was looking through some old credit card paperwork when trying to find evidence for my CPP reclaim (have posted elsewhere on that) and saw on the statements, going back to 2005, PPI payments. I hadn't realised I even had it on that card! It wasn't a great deal, but I am glad I took the time to fill in the form (note: Capital One has their own form to fill in) because I eventually got my letter confirming they're sending me £78 back! Not a huge amount but better than nothing!0

By chance I found my file and loans from 1996, which included PPI. Used your recommended paper work. HBOS sent acknowledgement; phoned me to confirm the basis for my claim and last week they sent repayment of £27,672.12. Easy process and never imagined the size of the refund. :j
Less success elsewhere, however. Bank said PPI was sold by double glazing company who have gone out of business and Bank said they were not responsible. They also seem to have ignored another loan I had with them, which I am pursuing.0 -
hi all help pls
sent of the std form to Lloyds tsb as had 6500 on a card, took out loan to make it cheaper
they replied today saying no ppi on the card and another letter for the loan saying they are looking into it further and gathering information
I rememember at the time having medical condition and being unemployed but on incapacity benefit etc
just to note the loan was paid in full by myself over the 5 year period
is this correct grounds for missold ppi?0 -
The reasons you state above are good ones for mis sell.
Have you any statements for the card that show PPI, do you remember paying any?.0 -
No paperwork proof but a vague memory of seing it somewhere I thought it was on the credit card but lloyds have just shown me must of been on the loan0

Ask them for the paperwork they have that shows no PPI on the Credit Card, if they are saying there is none how do they know?.0
