    [*]What were you reclaiming:loan
    [*]Who was the provider: barclays
[*]How much did you get back: £944
[*]Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: straight into bank account
[*]Simple, received a letter from barclays saying that they may have mis sold me PPI. I had to fill in a questionnaire. Couldn't remember a thing about the loan apart from I did tick the box for ppi and I remember having a telephone call about me being a PE teacher with someone from barclays. So, after six weeks they have credited my account. Haven't had a letter from them yet :)

I had a loan with Bradford & Bingley in 1992/3 which included missold PPI. I have been in contact with BB over past 6 months and to date they have concluded that they cannot trace my account or the loan and subsequent PPI documents so cannot verify that I ever had said account or missold PPI. I have tried tracing my natwest current account from where the direct debit was paid (via mylostaccount) but not even they can trace my natwest account which I stopped using in 1999/2000. Does anyone have any ideas or shall I just leave it be?:(

    Hi,

Can you advise how you got on with your PPI claim with Bradford and Bingley?

I too had a loan with them in 1996 with PPI and I was self employed.

Could you let me know what the address is for them now please?

    Thanks

    Unlikely you'll receive a response.

The post you quoted was made in January 2012 and the poster concerned never returned to the forum.

I wouldn't expect a complaint about PPI from the 1990's to be still kept on record to be honest. Unless you have extensive documentary proof of this I think you'll have to accept that this is a forlorn endeavour.
  • Can't help with phone number but my sister has a claim in with Lloyds and has had to defer it to the ombudsman - they are apparently one of the hardest to claim from. Good luck x
    Hi All

Great news had a letter from Lloyds this morning saying my claim has been upheld and i will be recieving payment of £3679.84 in the next 28 days

However i have a question about the interset. There were 2 loans both from 1995 loan 1 is paying me £1283.62 with interest of £434.49 payable
Loan 2 was paying £1115.79 with interest of £798.05
considering these were taken out in 1995 for 96 months at 8% interest it seem a low figure on the interest, what does everyone else think????

    Thanks

It's 8% simple interest, not compound.

Eaststandjack, I think the interest is too low. Even just calculating loan one from the end in 2003 I make it £960. You can ask them for a breakdown of their calculations before you accept the offer.

It's 8% simple interest which is on a sliding scale. Nothing to stop "EastandJack" from querying the calculations however.

Yes, that's what I based the rough calculation on. There are a few spreadsheets around the web to do something more accurate.

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: LloydsTSB
    • How much did you get back: just shy of £4000
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Financial Ombudsman
I can't thank MSE and forum users enough. I was a cynic thinking my chances of recovering the PPI on a loan I took out in 2001 were very low. I tried in 2007 and gave up after their first negative response. I tried again in 2011. LloydsTSB behaved disgracefully telling me at various times throughout the process that I'd run out of time to refer my case to the Financial Ombudsman. The cheque arrived today.
I'm now a full time student and this sum makes such a huge difference to life.
Perservance is the one tip I'd give to anyone thinking of claiming. Thanks again
  • I have had great success with Halifax and Santander, but nothing from Barclaycard. I used the same template for all, as I just ticked the box on the credit card application form. I used the FOS template. I have now sent a letter to the Financial Ombudsman to query why with the same details, two companies paid, but the third didn't.
