hi i am i bit confused ,a bit of a novice on this site really .
i sent my ppi complaint to barclays regarding a card i had with goldfish
that i cancelled in 2007 , when i sent the form off to barclays i got a reply saying that they could not find my account and that the account did not migrate over to them from whoever had the goldfish card account before them,i was pretty sure that barclays took over my account ,so sure that i took out an experian credit report
when i got my report it DID show that barclays were the holders of my old goldfish account in 2007 so are barclays liable for all ppi on the goldfish card owed to me and should i persue it
    any help would be grateful
    thanks

First, you are not automatically 'owed' money. You complain and see if the complaint is successful.

Send it back with proof that they owned it then, and ask them to invesitgate or it's going to the FOS [don't send it ot the FOS just yet, wait for their reply]

Hi all new to this forum I put in a claim to santander on 15th April for old loans had with alliance and lec, I was told that i did pay ppi on 2 of the loans, i knew i paid a a small premium monthly, so therfore it was not an up front charged PPI. I had a letter saying they were looking into it. My 8 weeks is up in 1 week and I have heard nothing, do they have to respond in writing by the end of the 8 week? and as i have been told i was charged ppi should I be paid out?

They should respond at the end of the 8 week deadline. If they don't, you can either wait a few weeks more or forward your complaint to the FOS which can take up to 18 months.

No, you won't necessarily be 'paid out' it depends on your complaint reasons.

It's not somehow wrong to have insurance, PPI will only be refunded to you if it was mis-sold.

Just like to say thanks for the invaluable advice I have read on this forum.

I today spoke to Barclaycard regarding my ppi complaint as the 8 weeks deadline had passed and they are upholding my complaint. I should be getting back just over £12,000! One happy bunny!

Also received over £400 last week from RBS as a gesture of good will for a loan which I took out in 1998. I sent a copy of my original paperwork and statements.

    Thanks once again everyone.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on Various loans/credit cards
    Who was the provider: RBS
How much did you get back: £9000
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 phone call to PPI RBS helpline

We made a 5 min call to RBS complaints telephone number given to us by our local branch. Said that we wanted to register a complaint with regards to PPI on loans, reason was that we were told we would really need to take PPI to be guaranteed the loan (i know, but i was young and did not know better back then). Received 7 letters back within a week each with different policy numbers. Received 4 back with good will gestures and 3 with no record of PPI. Am very happy with the way it was dealt with. Very quick response and kept up to date with text messages on the progress of everything. It took 4 weeks from the phone call to start receiving cheques in the post.

    I can report success!

    PPI from a Credit Card
    HSBC
    £400 refunded

This was refunded after a brief letter to the bank an 8 weeks wait! No quibbling from the bank, so no need to go to the ombudsman! A simple "we agree letter" and an offer. Quick calculation and it roughly matched what I had expected and here we are!

I was defo missold PPI as santander kept on and on until i agreed to a small life ins ppi, so at mo when i rang and told them it was in my 8th week, i have been told i will prob get a letter next week to tell me whats happening, so lets hopw no news means good news? I have also got a claim with HSBC, when i phoned to check if I had paid PPI on a loan we had, i was told they would look into it, then minutes after putting the phone down i was called to say yes you do have a calim yes you did pay ppi and actually the ppi ploicy is still active, so if you used the loan then you would be cahrged ppi. So I put a claim in, then 1 week later i got a call to say there was no evidence of ever having ppi on the loan, so they were closing the case, I rang them furious to tell them that they were lieing as I had been phoned by the advisor and told I had paid ppi, so they had egg on their face and have now had to reopen the case, so again lets wait and see, I will keep you all posted on my claims.
