If you pay a loan off early, whether that's by opening another loan, or with a lump sum, that is settling early in both cases.

If you opened another loan at this time, when the 1000 odd was supposed to have been rebated, then that is settling early.

I don't see how they can say they sent you a cheque for this amount, because if you had paid it off with a lump sum you would have paid to amount due, not an extra 1000 odd because you would have had to phone and find out the total adjusted amount.

I know, i think they are confused now my case manager said it wasn't a cheque now but just taken off the loan amount, which i understand, but I've asked for a statement/paperwork showing this, he will get back to me tomorrow.
    Thanks

  • Hi, I am new to the forum but would be grateful for any feedback.
I haven't chased a claim assuming that 10 years was as far back you could go until I saw Martin on tv last week.
Basically I was in the Royal Navy between 91-98 with lloyds tsb then transferred my account to my local lloyds branch in Wales when I left.
I phoned lloyds up last week and was told that I have had 8 loans including the one I have now , but the lady would give no details of my loans to me. I know that the first 3 possibly 4 loans I paid ppi on but have no paperwork for any of these loans. Will they have all this information as I was told by a works colleague that lloyds will say they have lost all information on these loans although I they know I have had 8 with them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • Time to write to the chief executive.

I'd just written an email and then the post came, including another acceptance form to sign. I think I'm going to post it special delivery, although I see from your experience with HSBC they said that was the reason they didn't receive your form.

You will have to send them a SAR and £10 to see what information is left. Once you know the loan numbers, make your complaint. See the front page sticky for the SAR letter, make speicific reference to loans.
Give them as much info as you can, old addresses etc.

Single premium on a consolidated list of loans is probably your complaint reason along with you didn't need it because you were in the armed forces.

Have you had the acknowledgement that they have actually received your claim?, if you have, save yourself a call and give them another week.

Yes, just send it first class post, but get proof of posting from the Post Office for peace of mind.

hello, just had a lovely surprise when I checked to make sure hubbys wages had gone in. Barclays have paid the PPI claim! We got £1071.00 and £431.00 although we only had one claim.

Im really surprised, they havent contacted us to say that we had won the claim.

It took around 5 weeks from ringing Barclays for the form and getting the money. I posted another questionnaire they wanted filling in on Tuesday but I didnt answer any different from the original questionnaire.

So happy - we can pay off the credit card!!!

I wish we had claimed years ago, but didnt as we thought it would be so difficult. xx
