PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I made PPI claim to RBS for a credit card I have had since 1997. I got a rejection letter saying my claim was not going to be honoured. Referred the rejection to the Ombudsman about a month ago - they warned me it may take up to a year to deal with my appeal request. Yesterday I got a letter saying they have advised RBS to honour my PPI claim and refund any payments made otherwise they will act and make a final decision!
Just waiting for confirmation of the amount owed to me!
Definitely worth doing and certainly easy to DIY following the advice and using the letter templates on this site - thanks Martin and team! :j:T0 -

My partner after a little prompting went to Lloyds Bank and spoke directly with a member of staff who immediately got on the phone to kick start the process...within 3 weeks we received £7,000 back with another expected £3,000 on its way. Why? Because all the time PPI was running he was serving in the army. If he had been shot and wounded the army would have paid out. If killed, PPI wouldn't have covered him. One big0

Well done you, my claim with santander is in its 8th week and I phoned yesterday as one thread said keep pestering them as if you owed them money they would be pestering you!! anyway I am being told it is still with the investigators, so 8 week is up on Monday, should i hear next week, does anyone think no new will turn out to be good news, i am hoping that they are going to pay me, so therfore will not cough up until the 8 weeks are up, does anyone else have experience of being told that their claim is still with investigaters in the 8th week, is so what happened?0

If you "keep pestering them" you will receive no useful information, you already know they are allowed eight weeks to consider your complaint so what reason to call them?
The time to contact them is if the eight weeks has passed and you've heard nothing. Don't hold them to the day and the date-expect a response to arrive sometime in the ninth week.0 -
:beer:Once again a massive thank you to all on this site whose success stories encouraged me to claim from several loans and credit cards we have had over the years. We have today had a letter from Lloyds upholding our complaint on a past credit card, though this was after being told there was no PPI on the card (although they had sent me copies of statements showing it was added). It has taken since November 2012 but will be worth the wait when we get our cheque for over £2100 plus £100 because of the delay. Once again thanks to all on this site :beer:0

- What were you reclaiming: (eg. loan, credit card, store card)
- Who was the provider: Nationwide
- How much did you get back: 900
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: No letter direct from Nationwide
- Simple, recieved a letter from nationwide saying we might have PPI claim, sent claim in, week later a offer back, so fast!

Following a 'hunch' regarding PPI payments on a loan taken out with HSBC in 2001 I rang customer services in Janaury to enquire whether I had in fact paid it on a 3 year, 6.5k loan. 5 months later and yesterday, following completion of the Ombudsman questionnaire downloaded off this site, I received an offer of £2.5k. To date HSBC have been helpful and I've been kept in touch with my complaint. Hopefully, payment will be just as well administered. Well worth it for a phone call and a couple of letters. I was employed in the public sector at the time and so had a full sickness and redundancy package. This was my reason for mis-selling which has obviously been upheld. Good news.0
