Applied again this year and got a letter after a few weeks to say it was taking longer , and would hear by may. letter arrived last week £1545.85 was offered in full and final settlement, cant understand how it was turned down last year

if you have been turned down, apply again !!! it worked for me
  • I claimed £7000 from egg loans for a car loan of £14000 in 2003.

I used the form on the mse website and filled in the relevant parts and sent it off to egg loans. I received a letter a few weeks later say that egg loans no longer trades but there was another bank that was dealing with their customers. I sent the same form to them and was extremely happy to recieve a cheque from my upheld claim about 2 months later.

I received the cheque for £7000 made up of interest and ppi payments. I had also paid the loan off a year early so I could have received more if the loan term was met.

All in all a very happy bunny. Well worth the little effort
  • Hello everyone on here :A
I recently tried to claim PPI which i am 99% certain I had on car finance some years ago. (The car was £5000 and i paid back £10800). I remember buying the car which was from a dealership some 40 miles away from where I live. I was told this was the only finance deal they could do as i had not had any previous credit history (I did have a mortgage at the time!!) Anyway I was not very savvy to finance and just wanted a new car:j

The salesman actually brought the car to my house with his pal and i signed for it in my own lounge! Guess they were keen uh?
With advice from MSE I wrote to Santander (who had taken over from GE Finance) and they couldn't do anything without ref no. So I got this and they still couldn't proceed. FOS said i need to get in touch with dealer which I did and was asked to write to Pendragon which i did. Pendragon said, some weeks later, that they cannot proceed because it was 'time barred' and 'before 2006'.
Can anyone offer me advice please? I read on MSE possibly take them to court?? How? Small claims perhaps? And will i need a ppi company to help or could i do it alone?
    Much

If you bought this before January 2005 your complaint will be dismissed because they weren't regulated.
The FOS usually tell people to go after the underwriter but as they didn't sell it, it isn't their responsibility.
You won't have much luck taking them to court because PPI is not a legal issue and you can't use a company because you have already complained and you can only complain once [ a company will have done no more than you have anyway]

    Your complaint is over.

Put the claim into Barclays, if you were mis sold they will give you PPI back that you paid to them, they will (or they should) forward your complaint to the others for the years you paid PPI to them.

    Hello All

I hope I am writing in the correct thread - apologies if I am not! Writing for a bit of advice/thoughts on my situation. A couple of weeks ago out of the blue I received a letter from HSBC stating that I may have been mis-sold PPI due to the re-financing of several loans and that it may not have been appropriate to have been sold PPI. So I sent back the questionnaire with very little information as these loans are years old and I don't have the paperwork anymore. I called them after a couple of days to confirm they had received the form back and they said there were 6 PPI claims and I should receive a significant refund! This got me thinking so I called them back again and they offered to send me copies of the loan agreements as I no longer have them (not received them as yet). The acknowledgement letter I received dated 29th April stated only two loan agreement numbers and I should receive an outcome in the next 8 weeks. When I called them to ask if it was indeed 6 or 2 they thought it was 6 but only showed two agreement numbers?. They also said nothing more will happen until 14th May - I am assuming this is for them to investigate?

So do you think I am in with a chance of receiving a refund of some sort given they wrote to me directly and also because the first person I spoke to implied I could be getting a significant refund? do you think they have already decided the outcome?!

Also has anyone else had success with this type of claim?

Sorry for the length, just not sure what to think about it all!!

Appreciate any thoughts on this - thank you..

No one can tell you. You'll have to wait and see what they come back with. It's possible you had 6 loans and only 2 of them had PPI

Barclays will be liable for any PPI that you paid to them if it was mis sold, as you cancelled the GF card it is possible GF will no longer have any info regarding this card due to the time that has lapsed.
If you cancelled the GF card, how was this taken over by MS and DF and then Barclays?.

Your best course of action would be to contact Barclays re the PPI you paid to them and enquire about the PPI you paid GF.
