:j - I used the MSE templates and wrote to MBNA to reclaim PPI mis sold in 1997. They called me to verify a few details and then offered me £343, which I accepted. I had not used the card or account for several years and didn't use it very much. I also wrote to HSBC and they have just offered me £3839 !!!

I did not have the full number for the MBNA card as I had not used it for so long and had shredded most of the paperwork, but I found some of the account number - 4 digits missing - on the CPP paperwork they had sent me (I am waiting to hear about my mis-sold CPP) and MBNA investigated it .

I am really pleased with the whole outcome and thank MSE for their expert guidance !!!:T

I may have been mis-sold PPI due to the re-financing of several loans and that it may not have been appropriate to have been sold PPI.
If they have said " re-financing several loans " they must know how many, see what they come back with and let us know what they say.

    • PPI on a rolling loan
    • HSBC
    • £7000
    • Lots of letters, rejected offers and the Ombudsman
I made two claims for my retired parents; the first HSBC settled very quickly with an offer matching what had been paid over the years, but on the second the offer made was only a third of the total paid out over the 13 years my parents had been paying the automatically added PPI (they hadn't even been asked if they wanted it)...after many, many letters...(HSBC do not allow the public or even the call centre staff to speak directly to the department dealing with the claims), I finally got fed-up and started the process with the Ombudsman...who almost immediately found in my parents' favour and told HSBC to pay up, which they very quickly agreed to do in full...

I don't think there was ever any doubt that they intended to pay in full, their refusal was simply a delaying tactic in the hope that my parents would get fed-up and go away empty handed, which they almost certainly would have done if I hadn't have been helping them.

So keep going if you know you are right...it can be a long road, but the results may be worth the trouble.

After having read MSE advice on claiming mis-sold PPI (mine was inflicted verbally on a graduate loan of about £10,000 - I did query it at the time but was told 'no PPI, no loan'), I wrote to HSBC with absolutely no other information than my previous bank account number (victoriously shredded all loan-related documents when I finally paid it off) and a photocopy of a chuff chart I had created back in the day to tick off my monthly repayments! As I had scarcely any information, I didn't fill out the ombudsman form.

There was a minor hold-up as I had got married since then and name had changed so had to go into a branch of HSBC and prove who I am, but I eventually got over £2,500 credited to my account within 5 months of my initial letter being sent. I reckon that's about 7-8 percent interest. If only they'd told me at the time that they were taking it to set aside as an investment so I'd be able to take the husband and daughters I didn't know I was going to have to the Green Man festival in 2013 to see our favourite band, I wouldn't have minded!! (And pay for bills etc etc - it's not all profligacy round here you know...)

I know I have been fortunate, but my advice is: just do it - you've got nothing to lose but the 20 mins it takes to write the letter and the cost of a stamp. Good luck! And thanks MSE...

Barclays fobbed me off regarding an old goldfish account saying they could not migrate the card account number and had no info on the account so I paid two pounds to acquire an experian report and its says barclays were the card holders so they fobbed me off really, off to the ombudsman again with my new info now so wish me luck .

I heard today that the Co-Op Bank is refunding me nearly £15,000! My loan was refinanced, so went on for several years. I claimed bacause I had tried to cancel when the loan had about 18 months to run, and was refused, I only expected to get back those last payments, but they have offered me full refund of all payments as well as interest and compensation.
I have been doing cartwheels all day... then I logged in here and heard the news about the Co-Operative bank. :-( My acceptance of their offer was sent by return of post. Will I get my money?

    · NatWest

    · £3200

    · One phone call

After reading many posts on this site, I decided to pursue a claim with NatWest, I had a total of 3 loans and two credit cards with them from 1998 - 2006.

I am a serving member of the RAF and as such would never have required PPI. Also the PPI would not have covered me when I was deployed from home (in a war zone).

NatWest have agreed and for the time it took to make a 15 minute phone call they have offered me a good will gesture of £3200 including interest to which I have happly accepted.
Many thanks to everyone who have posted and MSE.

Four more to go. :j

    ·HFC Bank

    ·£2500

    ·1phone call + 1 claim form + 1 acceptance form

Having been tempted by the many spam texts and emails from claims management companies I decided to look into reclaiming. Lucky for me I came to this web site first to see if it offered any advice and how glad am i that i did.

My loans were taken out in 2004 and I no longer had any of the paperwork so initially i didn't think i'd have much success. Using my Experian credit report I was able to find out which lenders I'd used, the periods the loans ran, loan amount and reypayments.
Armed with this info it was enough for the lenders to find my details and initiate a claim.
HFC sent me a claim form to fill in within 2 weeks of my call and I received a final settlement notice less than 2 weeks after that. The money landed in my account today:T:beer:
I'm currently waiting on a decision from MBNA which should be anytime now.

Ironically I had a call from a CMC the other day (We Claim, You Gain) who informed me that the banks were tightening up on PPI claims and people claiming independently were being fobbed off or a STAGGERING 90% were not receiving the full amount they are owed????
I politely told them they were talking rubbish and pointed them to this web site :rotfl:;)

    Thankyou MSE

I would think so, give them 2 weeks and then chase it up.
