PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Has anyone had success claiming back with the application for ppi being one of the old pre ticked ones. Any help would be fab.
Hi yeh, I had a loan with lloyds TSB the CCA showed a computer generated pre ticked box for the PPI and only had one signature accepting the loan. They initially rejected my complaint stating the signature used to accept the loan also acted as additional consent for the PPI !! In other words if I didn't sign the CCA I would not have got the loan but as I did sign for loan I accepted the PPI in the process??? Anyway I wrote back stating that their response and reason takes away the optionality and I have been told they are now upholding my complaint. :-) however on some of my other agreements its proving a lot more difficult especially on credit cards, as the agreements are showing more than one signature in addition to the Loan or credit card which is where it gets tricky to prove you were only signing for loan or credit card. Luckily I have additional proof in some of these cases but where pre ticked boxes appear then I'm learning you need additional proof and not just your word against theirs ... Good luck :-)0 -
You might get lucky with auto payout which has happened on 2 of mine. I got lucky on and M&S one coz the signature accepting PPI was significantly different to my signature on the loan application.0

This is exactly what happened to me. I knew I had a potential claim against EGG but assumed I wouldn't be able to get much back and the whole claim confused me so I decided not to bother. However they wrote to me themselves last month and I decided I had nothing to lose so completed the form and sent it off.
However, reading this thread (idiot than I am, should have read it before sending!!!), I realise that I didn't provided much evidence. I said that I signed up for the loan online and PPI wasn't mentioned. I also stated that some months later, I had contacted them about it questioning the fees and had been told that it was a condition of the loan, and stated that I had critical illness insurance. I was also employed in the public sector with a very good redundancy package.
BUT...I didn't send anything to support this. Can I ask if you did? Would they have expected evidence of critical illness insurance? I very much doubt they would still have recording of my call from 2006. I think I -stupidely again- assumed that if THEY were contacting me, they were more likely to process it in my favour, but I'm now wondering if I should have done more. I sent it only on Wednesday, would you guys advise to forward evidence of critical illness or will my application be enough?0 -
Thanks m pochec much appreciated. I didn't even think about the difference in signatures. I'm just trying to get as many reasons in my favour as I can.0

I did send another form, which they received on Wednesday. I did send it back in the pre-paid envelope, with the courier sticker on the reverse. I did this because I know how much goes missing in the mail, working for a mail order company. So it went to the mailroom looking for all the world like any other of their letters they receive, as did the one they signed for on Wednesday.
I was told by an advisor this morning, that if I didn't send my details for the third time, then my payment would be cancelled and I wouldn't be able to claim it again.
This evening, I have again spoken to Barclaycard, and I had just said to the advisor that my next move would be to say that I would be contesting the amount payable. And hey presto, as if by magic my details were on the system. They have now told me my payment has been escalated and should be with me shortly.
I have now also listed a complaint with the PPI department, Barclaycard complaint section, and am finishing a form from the Ombudsman. I have also requested written confirmation as to where my first lot of details are.
Thankyou for your response!!
Hi, I also had the same problem as you with Barclaycard. After numerous phone calls to be told acceptance form was not received I decided to e-mail CEO at Barclaycard. This got their attention and two hours later, received a phone call from a senior manager and money was paid in approximately ten days later. This is definitely the way to proceed. Good Luck!0 -
Hi I have recently learnt from fos that Bank have made an offer on my ppi claim. They stated that the presentation of this is being checked by them. Is the amount the Bank have offered the amount I will eventually receive. Many thanks for all the useful tips on this site.0

What ever the offer is, you will receive all of this, if your account is still running and you have arrears or a DMP then they take back what you owe them off the offer, if you have none of the above, you get it all :j.0 -

- What were you reclaiming: Loan
- Who was the provider: Woolwich (now Barclays)
- How much did you get back: £5,452.47
- Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After letter and phonecall & subsequent SAR
- Brief Story: I originally sent a complaint in, without much documentation, for a loan (that was topped up 5 times) between 1997 and 2004. They offered £500 per loan as a gesture of goodwill because they didn't have a breakdown of all the payments I made, because of their age.
If you had an old Woolwich personal loan then it's worth going for the SAR because they do hold data as far back as 1997.

Barclays sent me the letter yesterday but there was an error in the amount of PPI on the last loan and also they way they calculated the refund. I spoke to an advisor who put me on hold while he spoke to someone more senior and then they agreed that the calculation was done wrong.
By my calculations I think I'm due a further £1000 of PPI payments and a further £2000 from the 8% interest. Half of the interest from the £1000 of PPI and the other half of the interest based on the way they calculated my refund.
Basically they deducted two of the recent £500 'gestures of goodwill' before they calculated the 8% interest and I argued that this deduction should have been made after the interest was applied. The way they calculated the refund would have meant that I missed out on 8% of £1000, which going back over 10 years means that the interest is approx £1000.
They agreed with me and have re-opened the case and I'll hear from them shortly. I should be getting a further £3000 from them!!"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0 -

I have been watching these forums for a while and thought its time to share met story.
It all started when I received a letter from mbna in January saying I could of been missold ppi. They enclosed a questionnaire that I kept putting off filling out until my OH said he had checked online and it seemed legit so ff it went to mbna. After a couple of weeks I got a phone call asking me what my employment status was when I applied for he card (director of my own company) and I thought that was that. Within a week I received a offer of over 5,000.00 and the cheque two days later.
Then I sent for forms to capital one, egg and a letter to Barclays asking if I had ever had ppi.
So far capital one said no I was employed at the time egg have sent a letter upholding my case and will send a cheque for jus over 4,000 and arc lays s the strangest I've ha so far 6 different reference numbers and fos forms sent to me for different products last night I asked them what one of the forms was for and if they had an update one the other cases (loans and barclaycard) the lady told me 2 of the complaints had been upheld so far and the others being investigated and last week the credited my bank account with a figure she would not disclose. Obviously I flew down to the bank andi can see over 8,000 has been tranfered in.
So I can advise people like me who watch the forums to sendin at least a letter. So far I am 17,000 better off and still counting.
My husband has not been so lucky mbna said he ticked a box on a postal application and that there was a cooling off period none of which we can remember from 1998 but hey we're still doing alright
Can I ask, did he get rejected in writing? if not then send a DSAR to MBNA0
