  • Hi All,

I just wanted to update you all regarding my super fast PPI claim. Well as per my previous post I phone natwest on 18th April, and I have now had payment (well yesterday). So in less than 2 weeks I have gotten £1920 paid into my current account.

5 minutes on the phone well spent in my book.

    Now to book a holiday!!

    Good luck everyone :)

    Hi!

Yesterday I came home to a letter from Nationwide (loan ppi) offering me £2440 + 8% interest to be calculated upon acceptance of this offer. They initiated the whole proceedings with a letter to me stating I may be eligible, the whole process has only taken 2 weeks so far.

The letter states they will have to restructure the loan and this could take 4 weeks however that amount more than covers what remains of my loan so hopefully it won't take long.

I can't work out what the interest might be as I don't have a record of each monthly payment but I believe they were between £70/£120 each month for the last 89 months. Anyone got any rough estimates what it could be, really curious!

Needless to say I'm very happy anyway and hope my Tesco and Halifax claims on credit cards are as successful!

The 8% is on a decreasing scale from the loan start date to the date they redress you, this is on the PPI monthly payment and not the whole loan payment, the nearer you get to redress date the lower the 8% amount.

You could do the calc if you knew the monthly PPI payment amount by using the bank charge calculator, as you don't, wait and see what they offer you.

When they restructure the loan they take the whole PPI amount off the balance, make sure they do, this will be better for you as you get more back.

Rang up welcome finance for an update, apparently. F&f response has been posted but they can't discuss it with me until I have received it? Feel my first rejection coming on :( oh well 4/5 ain't bad!, :)

    Hi All

I recently had a letter from Nationwide

I had a loan with them started 26/09/2005, settled 30/03/2008 - 237 a month for 36 months. This included PPI. The loan was for around 7.5k.

They said I might have been mis sold PPI and to return the slip. Well - I was definitely mis sold it after research, so I have returned their forms with my reasoning.

What does anyone think of my chances of sucess and what any potential compensation would be?

Equally this has made me review other finance I have had in the past:

AA Personal Finance Loan - Started 05/05/2009 and Settled 30/09/2010, £334 for 26 months

    Barclays Masterloan - started 09/07/2008 and settled 14/05/2009, 188 24 months

    MBNA credit card - started 31/10/2006 - settled 24/08/2010

Now - I'm not entirely sure if these had PPI included or not. I think the AA one did. I do not have ANY documentation about any of these (I know :( ) - what are my options?

Also - I had an Egg loan or credit card (I can't even remember which!!), which was more than 6 years ago and is not on my experian. What could I do about that? I think that loan had PPI, but as far as I know Egg aren't even around anymore - and I can't even remember the loan/dates amount - is that lost?

    Cheers,
    James

I'm by no means an expert on this but it's the same letter than I received a couple of weeks ago from Nationwide and mine has been successful (see a couple of posts above). They were very prompt so I would imagine you will find out within 2/3 weeks either way. Good luck!

    Another success to report!

    What were you reclaiming: Loan
    Who was the provider: Egg
How much did you get back: £1413.86 + £211.44 interest + £742.22 compensatory interest. Total £2367.52
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I sent the MSE template form.

Took approx 8 weeks from the time I sent in the form. They sent me their form which was practically identical. I copied verbatim the details from the template form I'd sent and had to provide proof of my change of name following my divorce (loan was in married name).

    Bingo!

    • What were you reclaiming: Loan
    • Who was the provider: Woolwich (now Barclays)
    • How much did you get back: £5,452.47
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After letter and phonecall & subsequent SAR
    • Brief Story: I originally sent a complaint in, without much documentation, for a loan (that was topped up 5 times) between 1997 and 2004. They offered £500 per loan as a gesture of goodwill because they didn't have a breakdown of all the payments I made, because of their age.
I was very happy with the offer of £3000 (£500 x 6 loans) because I wasn't sure if they had destroyed all the data. But something inside made me look further into it because I knew if I had all the paperwork this amount would be more. I issued them with a SAR and I got back all the data from my loans going back to 1997. They recalculated the refund and are sending me a cheque for a further £2,452.47.

If you had an old Woolwich personal loan then it's worth going for the SAR because they do hold data as far back as 1997.
