  • Hi All,

Well last thursday (yes just gone 18th April), I thought I would phone Natwest and see if I had any loans with PPI. I had no documents for any the loans I took out, and couldn't even remember how much they were for, however after a 5 minute conversation with a very helpful lady, she informed me that 2 out of the 3 loans i had (all paid off) had PPI (woo hoo) attached to them and did I want to make a complaint over the phone. I did and she asked me some questions and that was it. She told me it could take 8 weeks to process and gave me a reference number. The next day (friday), I got a text to say they were looking into it.

TODAY in the post, after only 2 working days since my phone call, I had an offer for £1800 for one loan and £155 for another. I think I must have a record for the fastest PPI reclaim ever????

That was the easiest £1900 I think I will ever get. I hope this spurs others on to do the same.

There was no way i would pay a company to do it for me!!

Thank you Martin and everyone's stories on here that made me enquire.
  • Hey guys just wanted to say a big thankyou for all the help and advice pn the MSE Forum.

Today i received a cheque through the post from Bank of Scotland for £1504 for PPi i had paid on a Halifax Credit Card a number of years ago.

Am also expecting a PPi refund with regards to my Halifax Loan as they have agreed to pay out but i just dont know the figure yet.

All this from the advice on the forum and complaining to the FOS after the Halifax fobbed me off.
  • Thanks to the information given through this forum which encouraged me to do something I have just received confirmation that a cheque is on its way for £3770.44 by way of a PPI refund on an MBNA credit card. Put that together with an earlier refund of £6351 from Santander and I have a great result. A lot of money for a little research and four phone calls!

    Good luck to everyone else.
  • Been lurking on this thread for a while now, and on April 2nd, i finally managed to get hubby to speak to lloyds re a load he took out in 2006.

Letter received from HSBC on Saturday confirming that a refund of almost £7500 has been credited against the loan I hold with them knocking 2/3s off my outstanding balance! All for very little effort, HSBC sent me the reclaim form and prepaid envelope and offer letter and it didn't cost me a penny! Now for my credit cards!

What were you reclaiming: PPI Credit card
Who was the provider: RBS Mint
How much did you get back: £3,480
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a template letter from MSE site.

Applied for the credit card in 2006 whilst self employed. Obtained a copy of the original application form from RBS using template from this site. It showed that I hadn't signed for PPI but had been paying. In week 6 of the investigation I was contacted by RBS & asked if I could prove my self employment for the period when I applied for the card. I don't know if they were looking for a loophole? Anyway, today I received an offer of £3,480 made up of £1,540 for PPI I'd paid & the rest in interest. I was only expecting a possible £1,800 so I'm happy & see no point in pursuing the matter further. I'm now claiming against Capital One for the same reason. Thanks Money Saving Expert!

  • Hia folks.

Been looking through your posts with interest and wanted to share my story with you all.

I sent off the questionnaire form to HSBC for PPI on a credit card that I have been paying since 1995. After 8 weeks I got back a letter informing me that they were rejecting my complaint. The letter was originally a template for a claims company as it referred to me as 'my client' - honest!! They also mentioned that their records showed I had signed up for PPI but further down the letter stated that owing to the passage of time, the original documentation no longer existed. They also stated that this was their final response and here is a leaflet if you want to go to FOS. Originally, I was going to let this one go but on further thinking decided "No! This letter from HSBC is fobbing me off and is very contradictory" I put together a very strong letter giving my comments and responses to every paragraph on their letter, told them I did not accept this as a final response, demanded they re-investigate, quoted chapter and verse from the FOS guidance document and sent it back to the PPI department and also emailed it to the HSBC Chief Executive. This got their attention and less than 3 weeks later they had upheld my complaint and are paying out a considerable amount of money.

My advise is don't give up, don't give in and just go for it. I am so glad I did. :j
