What were you reclaiming: PPI Loan
Who was the provider: Black Horse Finance
How much did you get back: £18,505
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: standard questionnaire from MSE
Sent off the questionnaire last month received letter this morning with offer of £18,505. All simple and straightforward and would recommend doing it yourself. I advised some family members to do it themselves but they thought that I sent them the wrong form and opted to use one of those companies, one will be paying 30% of any refund and the other has a invoice for £300 on a £600 refund. :silenced::eek:0 -
I recently submitted a claim with HSBC for a loan I had over 5 years ago and I received £1127 back. I didn't have many details and I just filled out the form that you can download from this website. It was easy. So then I submitted one from an Egg loan I had and received £647. I claimed from Barclays for my Egg loan. They wrote to me saying I had to claim from Egg but I didn't do anything and they must have passed it on as i received a letter from Canada Square saying the were dealing with it! I would recommend anyone who's thinking about claiming to do it. I would first look at your credit report from experian, it's only £2 and from there you can see all the credit you have had and dates etc. it will help speed up the process. My HSBC took around 2 months and my EGG around 6 weeks.0

I wrote to Santander in January of this year after realising we had been paying PPI for 13 years on our mortgage.
As this was put down as payment care we didn't think it was PPI until we received our statement just before Christmas 2012 and it actually said PPI not payment care.
I asked Santander to look at this for us but they replied with a letter saying not miss sold . We then spoke to Financial Ombudsman and they said we had a claim. To cut a long story short we received a refund for just over £3000 yesterday :rotfl: Also have another claim that is being looked at by Financial Ombudsman for us so hope to get more good news soon!! It only took a couple of phone calls and a stamp to get this result. If your thinking about putting a claim in hope this helps. Thanks to Martin Lewis's website !!!!0 -
musicalbox wrote: »Hi there,I made a claim to my credit card company for miss sold PPI.I was told I didn't have a case.I then went to my local CAB office who advised me to write to The Ombudsman, giving me all the information I needed. This I did enclosing all relevant documents required.this took over a year since my initial claim to my credit card company.they said I did not have a claim also. I appealed but they still gave me the same reply. What I cant Understand is that I never signed anything saying that I wanted PPI, they say I agreed to it by telephone conversation two years after I had opened my account. At the time it would not have applied to me as I received my salary if I was off work sick.
I would be grateful if someone can give me the guidelines as to who is eligible for refunds and who isnt.
Regards.
I have had a similar experience with Capital One, who despite me sending my original app to them to prove that I had not signed for PPI, refused my claim. They said I had agreed over the phone, I argued with them they still said no, so I wrote to the FOS, they wrote back saying that despite the fact that I was a civil servant and got paid my full pay if off sick I could still of benefitted from the policy, so I rang FOS and said, hang on a minute, I didn't agree to this policy!! she said yes but C1, say they used this written script! I explained that given the original application showed I had said no to the PPI and that two years later when activating my new card nothing had changed and I had said no again, that I did not believe that in a court of law their written script used by a highly pressured sales person would win a case but that my situation would be much stronger as my evidence was factual. she said they make their decision based on other similar cases and she said she had not known any other cases where the ppi had been applied without permission, I told her to come on here and have a look and she would find that is not the case!! today FOS say they have upheld my complaint and have written to capital one to tell them they recommend that they put me in the situation I would have been in had the policy not been applied.
I would say don't lie down because you have been told no, stand up and fight don't be bullied by your creditors or the FOS, I did and whilst the war isn't over for me yet, I have at least won the battle.
Good luck :cool:IF HIND SIGHT WAS FORESIGHT WOULD I STILL NEED TO GO TO THE OPTICIANS???0 -
What were you reclaiming: PPI Loan
Who was the provider: Blackhorse
How much did you get back: £2800
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: I applied direct (we found the original paperwork).
Took 8 weeks from start to finish in response to PPI claim for a loan we took out in the mid 1990s. Very polite on the telephone and couldn't do enough to help. Big tick from me. :T0 -
You are Welcome
pardon the pun :rotfl:
If you made any payments at all, you will have paid some PPI back in the settlement figure.
You can accept the one they upheld but write on the acceptance that you are asking for further info regarding the other from Welcome and make a copy.
Spoke to Welcome today, the loan was taken out on 6/7/04 and paid off in full on 28/07/04, marked as settled 03/08/04. Accordingly to welcomes records I made a payment of £129 on 31/07 but this was reversed as the account was paid off. All seems correct and looks to be the end of the road for this one, thanks again for your advice though. On the plus side, I spoke to hsbc for an update and was told that complaint has been upheld , just got to wait for offer letter. :j0 -

1. Reclaiming PPI paid on a credit card
2. Provider - HSBC
3. Got back just over £5000
4. Sent in the letter and then the questionnaire/form completed - downloaded from here, within 6 weeks we had a reply with amount to be refunded
We have a joint account and asked for a credit card. It was strongly intimated that we wouldn't get the card if we didn't take insurance. I wouldn't have been insured anyway as I have a previous medical condition and we weren't asked anything about that. I also have sufficient cover at work for critical illness, etc. so PPI. Not much use to me. OH also covered by employer.
No discussion from HSBC - a polite letter to say that they had received our claim and they would get back to us within the allotted time.
Thank you so much to this site and forum contributors, I would never have done it without you :T0 -

He's just been on the phone to lloyds who have informed him of another loan he took out in 1999 whilst he was self employed!
no figuress yet, but its looking promising. Thanks to this website!!
Will keep you informed
Well we've just had the letter back saying Hubbys claim was rejected.
The best part about the letter is it could have been written about somone else!
they made 5 pointer claims which hubby wasnt asked those questions in the first place .
and the best one yet was hubby made a "phonecall on the 24th of the month 1999 requesting a loan" utter rubbish!!
Hubby had the loan in place "in Branch" on the 18th of the month. with all paperwork to prove it
He is in the process of writing a looong letter back to lloyds :TSealed Pot Challenge (5) #1676 237.56/ £500
