You are eligible for a refund if you were missold PPI. There are no hard and fast rules, only a list of genuine misselling complaints, a list of hearsay ones, and sometimes people get lucky with auto-payout.
If you bought online or by post, barring a few genuine occurences of pre-ticked boxes, you miss-bought you were not missold.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Thanks to taff for reply.I think I may have been misunderstood. I have no recollection of accepting PPI re phone call.I didn't realize I had it till it was highlighted through the media. I still insist I was miss sold PPI. How is it determined if you are miss sold ?

You cannot complain simply because you have no memory of agreeing to PPI by telephone two years after opening your account. You need to provide proof that you never agreed to it. The fact that you received salary if you were off sick would be irrelevant if you were made unemployed.
Your complaint has failed and the Ombudsman has agreed with the Bank.
Time to forget about this and move on...0 -
Downloaded your form and sent it to Halifax to reclaim on PPI paid for three years. I simply said that I felt compelled to agree to PPI to get their credit card. They wrote back and asked me to telephone them to give more information. I didn't contact them. Two weeks later they sent a cheque for over £700. Bingo.0

Wow there's some great stories on here regarding payouts!! It's reassuring. :j
My story is : I opened a Barclacard account in April 1998, it had PPi on it till 2012. Anyway I started my claim 12 months ago and Barclaycard said they would not payout. I took it to FOS who in Feb said it would be upheld and to just wait for Barclaycard to get in touch with an offer. Ok.. So I phone at least three times a week and get the same response, take it higher and within days I receive the (what I recon is) standard 'goodwill gesture' in the post. So this was last week, and was £2000. Upset to say the least!!!! I'm not so sure £2000 reflects the amount of time I had PPI on my Barclaycard! 14 years??? So it's like starting all over again isn't it? Send it back, make the relevant phone calls..and now waiting on a letter that apparently was sent out to me Monday 15th. My concern is that I only called them Saturday to say I was not taking the 'goodwill gesture' and two days later a customer relations team member says there's a letter on its way to me! Mmmmmm doesn't sound like a revised offer to me! Oh and my SAR request and cheque was sent back to me last year too!
Anyone got any positive words for me....pleeeeaaase!!! I'm getting tired of it all now.
Thanks0 -
Good will gesture is normal speak for them, how much did you actually pay for the ppi and then add 8% that's the total.0

Thanks MSE for giving me the confidence to claim back the PPI I paid on my Barclaycard account. I applied in January 2013 and recieved payment of £3200 on 15 April, result.0

Back in February I told my mum I was going to pursue some PPI for some Natwest loans I had in the '90s all of which had single up front premiums.
She remembered having a £5k loan sometime around 1996. She also knew there was PPI on it. The next day she just phoned the Natwest PPI line, answered their questions as best she could. No paper work. No reference numbers or anything, other than the Natwest current account that she still has that the loan was paid in and out of.
Two weeks ago it was upheld and she got an offer of about £4k after tax. She accepted and the money was paid into her account within a week.
Easily less than 8 weeks start to finish. Now that's a success story.0 -
