I've found a claims company online called Forbes Douglas who offer a guarantee to pay £500 if they don't win your claim. I know I'll have to pay them some of my compensation if they win, but if I submit a claim myself and lose then I'll get nothing (which happened to a friend). My question is, does anybody know if there's any companies that offer a bigger guarantee?if I submit a claim myself and lose then I'll get nothing!
Contact Santander, see if they can find your loan, if they can and you had PPI and were mis sold, put the claim in, you will have to do all of the above anyway so why pay a company to do it.0 -
After being inspired by this forum I finally decided to put in a PPI claim for a loan I'd had with Santander. One phone call to Santander, a week later I received a letter to say that my claim was being looked into and a decision would be reached within eight weeks. After six weeks I phoned Santander again to ask what progress had been made and was told a decision had been made and a letter was on its way. Two days later the letter arrived with an offer of £6351. No commission to pay to a claims company. Result!
Now realising just how straightforward the claims process is I have just registered another claim with mbna for a credit card which had PPI.0 -
Banked a cheque today for £2239 from Canada Square Operations, former Egg loan. They sent me a forms saying "you may have been missold PPI". Apparently I was!
Off to claim my friends' back for them nowNothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!0 -
Thought I'd let you know I wrote to hsbc about several loans I'd had with them since 1998, I got a letter back offering me just under £13,000 compensation for mis sold PPI in march :j very quick turnaround as well, money was in my account in less than a week from sending the agreement back!
So now I'm chasing old credit card PPI, one has said no, the other I'm waiting on, so fingers crossed.0 -
I had an account with Lloyds TSB 1989-2001, and thanks to their bank charges I was left in financial hardship, every month charges on top of charges constantly put me back in the red thus accruing more bank charges. This snowballing effect affected my health and relationships (stress etc) I was working all the hours in the day just to keep up. The bank was no help when I approached them. Eventually I took redundancy just to pay them off. I cancelled my account with them at that point. Now I see that with PPI coming to the fore and bank charges being reclaimed I was wondering if I could claim off Lloyds after all this time? Would the Financial Ombudsman see this claim as justified?0

Do note that you have no access to the Financial Ombudsman until you've actually made a complaint to the bank and been rejected. Also, don't be sending for any agreements-they are not available on closed accounts.0 -
Hi All,
Many thanks to this site for helping me reclaim PPI from EGG, now Canada Square.
I received an offer letter on Friday, however, one of my loans is still running and is due to finish in November this year. Canada Square have stated in the letter that they are deducting £300 (almost) from my settlement and crediting it to the loan account to bring it to where it would be if I hadnt had PPI. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and why?
thanks again0 -
No idea. Depends on how much PPI you paid, which only you know.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Well after following this site's advice. I sent off all my letters, i had about 4 claims. 3 are still with the FO for further investigation, but yesterday i received a letter from Nationwide. They have agreed that i was not given sufficient information, and I have been offered £2,134.37 plus 8% interest. Dont be scared to fill in the forms yourselves. Honestly I read all the hints and tips and have successfully done it. And you can too!!
UPDATE
Just got home and another Company HSBC has said they will offer me £987 as they have now accepted my claim but will not go into details. This was because I wrote to the FO and said i was not happy they would not accept my offer. What a great start to the week!! Keep on coming! 2 More to go, just waiting on Barclaycard and also MBNA now.0 -
Hi there,I made a claim to my credit card company for miss sold PPI.I was told I didn't have a case.I then went to my local CAB office who advised me to write to The Ombudsman, giving me all the information I needed. This I did enclosing all relevant documents required.this took over a year since my initial claim to my credit card company.they said I did not have a claim also. I appealed but they still gave me the same reply. What I cant Understand is that I never signed anything saying that I wanted PPI, they say I agreed to it by telephone conversation two years after I had opened my account. At the time it would not have applied to me as I received my salary if I was off work sick.
I would be grateful if someone can give me the guidelines as to who is eligible for refunds and who isnt.
