PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Much like a lot of the posts on here I'd put off complaining about PPI (genuinely didn't realise they couldn't insist on taking it out as a condition of credit - I had comprehensive employment benefits and separate insurance that covered me for pretty much all eventualities, not to mention it always happened to be single premium!) but after getting constantly hassled by PPI Claims companies I thought I do some investigating on the internet.
Thanks to this fantastic website with such comprehensive advice, and, all the people who have posted which gave me the encouragement and determination to make a complaint, I have now received my first redress, from Barclays, for £5,500.:money:
Such a simple process, rang Barclays Insurance to start the claim, was sent the FOS Questionnaire to complete and within 5 days of returning it my complaint had been upheld and the money was in my bank account! Not sure if the fact that I hold a Barclays account made any difference but I'm absolutely gobsmacked at how simple and quick the process has been (exception not the rule I'm sure).
To anyone thinking of making a claim I'd recommend / implore / insist / beg you to make the claim yourself as opposed to using a claims company, and, spend time on this site researching and then completing your questionnaire.
Thanks Martin and everyone else at MSE, got 2 more claims going through at the moment with MBNA so I'll post again to let you know how they go (not expecting anything other than having to take them to the FOS having read the posts on this site!).0 -
Hi to everyone, I am back after a few months off from MSE
I am still very happy to assist and help anyone
I have had a lot of successes with reclaiming PPI, had great FUN seeing off silly debt collectors
I am still fighting the FRAUDULENT BANK ..... of course it's the ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND
PPI FRAUD ?
LIBOR FRAUD ?
INTEREST SWAP FRAUD ?
When I took out a PPI on a credit card with them, I was told that I would be covered even though I was self employed. The "so called PPI" was offered by UK INSURANCE which is owned by the RBS .... "BED FELLOWS"
Bear in mind that the RBS told me I was covered, UK INSURANCE said I was not ?
I was sold "a pup" by a commission salesman from the RBS ..... HE LIED TO ME
Despite numerous complaints, I was "fobbed off" by the RBS. Even the CEO Stephen Hester ignored my letters and just passed them to his "fob off" team
A couple of weeks ago I received a letter from the RBS, inviting me to contact their PPI claims unit in Manchester.
The letter clearly showed they knew who I was, my full name and address, the credit card number the claim referred to etc
So I wrote to Manchester and no surprise got a letter back rejecting my claim denying I was mis sold and claiming that I had not provided certain information ? There is no further information to provide, they know they lied, they know they stole money from me and they know they have committed fraud as indeed they have done to thousands of people.
I have in the past asked Hester what further information they require but it falls on deaf ears because this is another of their constant lies
Anyway, I wrote back with proof the RBS lied to me and mis sold the PPI.
Today I got a letter stating:-
"With the information you have given us, we have not been able to locate any records for you on our systems. Please check that your complaint relates to a policy/account held with The Royal Bank of Scotland"
Utter ignorance AND MORE LIES from this Fraudulent Bank, The Royal Bank of Scotland"
This letter came from
RBS
Customer Concerns Team >>> Should be renamed "PLEB CENTRAL"
Manchester
M3 3AQ
So, copies of these letters are being sent to the FSA and FOS so they can find out out why the RBS are lying to people and trying to fob them off
No, doubt we will hear shortly that the FSA have fined RBS for lagging their heels, just as they did with the other wild bunch "LLOYDS!
RBS lost over £500b last year yet the CEO thinks it will all get better ? Any guesses what RBS would do to customers who lost so much money ???? Would they accept such feeble excuses as given by the CEO ????? SOMEHOW don't think so0 -
Just received a letter from Co-operative Bank offering PPI refund of £1503 in respect of my late father who passed away in June 2010. Apparently they have been investigating and turns out the PPI was taken out after pension age so my father would have been unable to claim. They stated they would be in touch if they discover other PPI policies. I know there was a loan that was repaid in full by PPI when my dad became unable to work due to illness so I reckon that would exceed any refund. As I don't have any information at all I'll just wait and see if they contact me again.0

i think its high time for prison sentences for some of these people, i feel they think they're untouchable0 -
I never applied for my Barclaycard, I was at a cashier in Barclays, when I was told to sign for my card, which I assumed was a new debit card, but 2 weeks later a Barclaycard arrived. PPI was automatically added to this, and I never knew what it was, assumed it was a normal charge. In July 2010 a financial advisor told me what it was and that it was an optional policy. I canceled it straight away. I compained about being miss sold this PPI, but was rejected by Barclaycard. I sent it to FOS Last July, it is still waiting to be assessed, just wondered what people thought my chances of the claim being upheld were, I had the PPI for 8 years. Anyone else has a similar case that was successful?
I am claiming back from Barclay card, originally was a morgan stanley card then Barclaycard took them over. Barclaycard turned it down so went to the FOS, After 18 months Barclaycard has backed down and have 8 weeks to send me an offer. 2 weeks have pasted now but expect them to drag this out for as long as possible. Just keep at it and dont expect any fast replys.0 -

All fraudsters should go to prison and these bankers are fraudsters, The problem is that those in government are so scared to do this.
Just look at the criminal FRED GOODWIN, Gordon Brown made loud noises about bringing him to task, Blairs wife as a barrister made loud noises about bringing Goodwin to task .... what happened -- NOTHING ?
Whilst we have idiots running the country, dont expect anything less0 -

Posted yesterday on the wrong thread, but wanted to report a success in reclaiming PPI from Natwest/ RBS.
It took 2 weeks from phoning them with a complaint to them sending an offer. My reason for mis-sale was that I was a student at the time so could not have claimed on PPI. Natwest were really helpful, I have no complaints about how they dealt with my claim.
Many thanks to all who have posted about their experiences as it gave me the know-how to put in a claim. I got £1,800 back - not life changing money but a real boost to my efforts to be debt free.
Good luck to everyone else who is claiming.0 -

If you were sold the PPI by the bank, then you claim to the Bank
If you took it out as a seperate policy and nothing to do with your bank, then it is the company who sold it to you.
Remember what you were told when you took out the policy as most insurance companies do not cover self employed0 -
