Most do cover self employed but it was whether or not you had to dissolve the company for it to pay out that was the problem.

They say they do Taff but try to claim and you will hit a barrage of "why nots" ... it was just another banking scam
  • Hi folks i have successfully claimed back almost £20000 for miss sold PPI but used a PPI claims firm to do so and paid the fees due. However I still have one outstanding claim that is currently with the Ombudsman in respect of HFC bank.I originally completed and sent off all the forms in June 2011 to the claims company. They did advise me that my claim had been turned down by HFC and was then sent to the ombudsman around Sept 2011. I have since then contacted the claims firm on a number of occasions but the only info they have given is that the claim remains with the Ombudsman. I then contacted the ombudsman directly and they informed me that my case has been with them for sixteen months and is waiting in a queue but could give no indication on how long i would have to wait. Has anyone waited a similar amount of time for the ombudsman to deal with a claim

Shame really you went through a claims company, you could have done it yourself for free

The reason the FOS is so back logged is that the banks learnt that by rejecting claims people would go to the FOS and hence create a huge backlog so they did not have to pay out.

Simple a case of crooked and fraudulent banks at it all over again

    Same old bunch of crooks

    RBS
    HSBC
    LLOYDS
    MNBA
    CAPITAL ONE
  • Hi all. To all those who think it is difficult. THINK AGAIN. By using Martins do it yourself form for reclaiming. We have reclaimed a massive £17,000. All for 20mins work on a computer. No 3rd party getting commission. The form is self explanatory.... Thanks Martin.

While I can admire your vitriol and disdain for the banks, your logic is flawed.

Why would the banks reject complaints in order for the person to go to the FOS and then pay out more on top of what they would have paid if they had upheld in the first place...

    No flaw Taff

In 2012, the banks put aside money for PPI claims and as the year went on, realised the figure had increased to a level that would be impossible to pay out. So, they employed defer tactics which right now with the huge back log at the FOS, the banks have up to a further 16 months plus to pay back customers
Of course they know it will cost them more but for the next financial year or the year after.
As LLOYDS discovered this year when they received a huge fine for delaying refunds, it can cost a lot more for playing games

hi. i'm in same boat as you are. got credit card in late 1990's ,told that i couldnt have credit card if i didnt have the ppi. wasnt told it was optional.
barclaycard trying every route in the book to reject claim, and not pay out, fos gone in my favour twice now, so it back in barclaycards court, either make offer or go to ombudsman.

Hi kjd35aqua, do you mind me asking how long it took the FOS to find in your favour for the second time? Good luck and let us know what Barclays say!

So, after calling HSBC about what I thought was one credit card and one loan and being told there was PPI on 7 (4 loans 3 cards), I took down the acount numbers, one letter, one questionaire and BINGO, an £8.884.62 offer!!!!
No robbing claims company just one stamp, one questionaire and the great help from this site!
Oh and 8% interest which I think is over 3 times what interest banks are giving is great too.
    Thanks guys n gals.:T:T:money:

Hi, great result. Do you mind me asking how long HSBC took to actually pay out? I've had my offer letter and sent it back to them, theyve advised there's a memo on my account to say 'pay the amount' but cant say when it will be paid
