PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

The story:
I called HSBC mid Jan do enquire if I had PPI on any of the loans I took out after graduation from uni (from around 2002) There were 3 loans in total that rolled over.
Following on from the phone call, I recieved a questionaire within a few days...i filled that in and recieved a letter dated 26 Feb offering me the amount above. I filled in the acceptance form and the full amount has been paid into my account today.
I work in a company that offer 6 months full pay when sick and 6 months half pay, and would also recieve 4x salary in the event of death. This was my reason for not needing the insurance.
At the time of taking the loan out, I was told that the insurance was needed as part of the loan.

Just hope that this story spurs others on to make a claim, as the success stories here gave me the motivation to do it.!!

Yes her loan was consolidated about 6 months after the original.

There would have been a PPI rebate then, which is why hers is much less.

hi. they gave barclaycard a certain date to reply by (4 weeks),but it took 6 weeks, then another 1-2 weeks for FOS to look over barclaycards rejection information they had sent............which just helped my case,as i only had info back to 2002, but barclaycard were helpfull in giving info all the way back to when i got the card,over 10 years back from 2002,so more money for me. well thats if they dont still reject my claim.which is where it stands at present.
next step is barclaycard have another 4 weeks to reply again, if they still reject,then it goes to ombudsman for a final yes/no answer.

I found some old paperwork from 1998 for loan I took out sent template ppi letter to Tesco 2 weeks ago got reply this morning repaying me £2455 so many thanks only cost was my stamp well happy

I have just successfully reclaimed PPI from Black Horse Finance for 3 loans taken out between 1999 and 2003, I received over £3000 and it took just under 8 weeks from the date of contacting them until receiving my offer. I am currently waiting to hear back about another loan which was a secured loan taken out in 2003, hopefully with success. I would definately recommend reclaiming yourself and not through a claims company as you will save a lot of money if successful. Also I had made a claim on one of my loans.

Back in December I received a letter from Barclays saying I may have been missold ppi. I completed their questionnaire and it turned out I had 3 accounts...one got rejected but 2 upheld, one for £500, the other £1600. All paid very quickly.

Sainsbury loan...rang number and spoke over phone to locate historical loan. Sent letter off january. Further follow up call by them asking few questions together with questionnaire and £4500 paid within 2 weeks f that phone call. About 6 weeks in total.

Mbna, sent off letter in January, received letter asking for more info and questionnaire. Received upheld letter on Saturday and cheque 4 days later today for £8500! All thanks to this website! 8 weeks in total.

After receiving MSE emails for a while I kept wondering if I should seek to find out if I had a ppi claim as I had taken loans out in the past. I was tempted to use a company to help me but chose not to because of this site. I am so grateful I didn't, it was so easy I called my bank they told me I had ppi on 2 loans and asked me a few questions. The form they sent me was so easy to fill in anyone could do it. That was 4 weeks ago and I just checked my bank balance yesterday to find it had increased by £3,500 of which it was 4 different amounts with the title ppi plus int. I am so glad I listened to MSE! :j
