My reasons were
1.I wasnt aware I was paying for ppi & had no idea I had it
2. I was employed with a company who paid sickpay so would have no need for it
Oh no...do you think thats a strong enough reason? I didnt know I had it so It was difficult to answer some of the questions.0 -

Despite what you may have heard from Claims Companies, PPI was not randomly added to customer accounts without their permission and knowledge.
The work-related benefits are a stronger reason, but if you were made redundant these would not have been payable of course.
So you may be correct when you asked, "Too easy to be true?"
You'll know for sure in a few weeks...0 -
Hi Amersall
I've rung RBS and they have suggested that I write to their Archive Department requesting copies of my original loan Agreements and then check that PPI was applied. If I can prove that PPI is on these loan Applications, I can go back to them and ask them to re-open the case.
Apparently it takes 40 working days for the Archive Department to respond.
Just thought I would let you know in case anyone else has been rejected due to the time lapse (these loans were back in 1993-96). Even though they have the Account Number they do not have the loan amounts etc.
PIP
Hi
I'm in a similar situation, my bank refunded PPI for loans from 2000 to 2006 but advised me of a couple of earlier loans. I did a SAR and got some information back 2 credit agreements & 1 payment schedule for a 3rd loan. They still rejected due to insufficient information.
Basically they wanted credit agreements & payment schedules for all 3 loans from 1994 - 2000 so now my case is at FOS. Only sent 2 months ago but I have received an acknowledgement & a phone call from FOS so now just have to wait and see.0 -

I have just had a letter from Santander re account cover which incorporated PPI on my Debenhams card. I complained to Santander saying I'd been mis-sold PPI in 2004. the reason for my complaint is that I have a pre-existing medical condition. when I tried to claim against my policy with Genworth, the underwriter, they refused because of my medical condition. I cancelled my policy and they took my complaint details but passed them to Santander.
Santander have not upheld my complaint as they say I was sold the policy over the phone. All their sales are unadvised and they say it is up to the individual to decide if the policy is suitable for them.
I actually took the card out in store and the sales assistant was the one who made the phone call once they'd taken some details from me. is there any point in going back to Santander regarding this as they're incorrect?
At the end of their letter they state this is their final response and refer me to the FLA. From what I've read on mse forums the FLA is a waste of time.
Does anyone else have any advice or similar experiences they can share with me?
Thanks

Hey Dizzi
not sure if your complaint with Genworth was recent or not but when Santander rejected my original complaint I then complained to Genworth they did try to send me back to Santander but in my letter i detailed Santander were not accepting responsibility and I insisted that they as the underwriter needed to investigate my complaint properly. They then took it up from there.
Stick to your guns it appears to me quite obvious you were not suitable for this product but obviously i'm no expert. Most companies will say it was for you to make sure the product was suitable for your needs but if you want to continue to pursue this you have to fully detail the reasons why you disagree with their decision giving as much pertinent information as possible.
The devil is in the detail.
Like i said mine took six months without going to FOS!
Good luck0 -
Reclaiming PPI was on my "Get round to it" list.
Last year I contacted a couple of companies who advertised there service. I was not happy with the terms so I left it.
A few mates did it. Got around 4k and received under 3k after the charges. ( heard rumour one had got £11k on a mortgage)
This year I got round to making the claim myself on a overdraft.
I thought I'm unlucky enough to get nothing.
I was thinking £3k minimum if it I got it. £5k okay. was crossing fingers at maybe £8K.
Two phone calls at 10 minutes and 25 minutes.
One form to fill in.
One mnoth wait.
They called me and it took 2 minutes.
One letter from them 2 days later.
They offered me just shy of NINETEEN THOUSAND POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!

I have successfully received two cheques for miss sold PPI one from Lloyds for £3942.60 and one from MBNA for £989.16, I used the template letters and advice given on this site. I sent first letters in December 2012 and have this week received and banked both cheques.
These accounts were not mine, I was acting for my cousin, both accounts were in default and both had been sold on. The Lloyds payment is particularly satisfying as I had tried to claim on this policy 4 years ago when my cousin had a heart attack and bypass surgery and they denied claim!!0 -
I am hoping you can clarify some information for me. My mum took out a loan under the credit agreement consumer credit Act 1974 which included an optional loan repayment insurance premium, which my understanding is the same as PPI, is this correct thinking. I have on her behalf sent a completed questionnaire to Lloyds in November 2012. They sent a letter to say PPI was not sold even though we had got the original credit agreement. Lloyds then said they would close within 28 days unless heard anything, so I wrote to say do not close and we required further information to why, to date this is still outstanding, but it does not look very hopefully.
I hear about all the refunds people are receiving, which is great and a lot do not even have the paperwork, so where have we gone wrong or it is time to go to the Ombudsmen or is Optional Loan repayment nothing to do with PPI?0
