Do you not have any agreements at all in your paperwork?.
Send a Sar request to the bank, ask for all financial info they hold on you, enclose £10 and give them 40 days to respond, this may not get you the loan details from the 90s but see what they do produce, if you have a branch near to you, take the request in, head it DSAR request.

Sadly no Agreements :-( I still bank with RBS so may call them an see if they will offer a gesture of goodwill payment. Or do you think that a credit agency would have the loan details. I have the letter from them that lists all the loans but its the ones from 92-96 that don't have the amounts when I requested the information back in 2011.

It is so obvious to me that I had PPI on these loans but can't find out how much they were for!! How frustrating and I am so cold I've had to drag my quilt downstairs!!

    Thanks Amersall

    You are welcome.

Credit agencies only go back 6 years so that is no good, try the goodwill gesture and see what they say, or send the Data request, you have nothing to lose.
  • After reading posts on MSE I almost didn't submit complaints to Lloyds TSB and Capital One for mis-selling PPI on credit cards I've held with them since 2002. Quite a few posts were quite negative with the chances of lodging a successful complaint with credit card companies.

Nevertheless in mid November I sent letters and completed complaint forms off to Lloyds TSB and Capital One. After a couple of weeks I received letters from them acknowledging my complaint.

On 6th February I received a letter from Capital One offering me £5666 which I accepted and I have since received the cheque yesterday 2nd March. Not bad!

Following a phone call from Lloyds TSB on 19th February asking me for further information - I received an offer of £7518 on Friday 1st March - which I am happy to accept. This will be transferred to my Lloyds bank account soon.

I don't know why they upheld my complaints - but as I rarely use the credit cards I am £13,184 better off.

Good Luck to everyone who is still waiting for complaint conclusions.
  • I cant say enough about this website and all the forum users on here.

Having thought I never took PPI I went for ages being quite annoyed that I should be 'owed' money, especially when my neighbour is having a new kitchen because of their payback.

Well, deciding enough was enough I took a couple of hours whilst the kids were playing to fill the forms out and go for it. I didnt have all my account numbers so I rang some places and just sent almost blank forms to others.

I rang HSBC as I used to have a credit card with them from when I was 18 and knew I had a loan. To my shock they told me I had three PPI accounts with them. I couldnt run to the post office quick enough with my form completed.

On the 7th week they have wrote to me and I am really pleased to say I have got £5904.52 back from them...... I didnt even think I took PPI so was very annoyed to find I had it on three accounts - nearly passed out when I heard how much they were giving me back!

It cost me two hours of my time, some paper, some ink and £15 in postage for various companies. I am now just waiting the payment to be made and will be just under six grand better off for doing it.

I would say that was time well spent, and thank you to this website for not letting me think it wouldnt be worth it or worse give 30% to a company to having done it for me.

For those of you thinking you never said yes, you just dont know what the company think you should have said and went on to do it. The worse they can say is 'no' and send you a letter back as one of my companies did showing me I ticked no to PPI in an attachment.....should have said "but nice try"

Thank you Thank you Thank you

    Hi Amersall

I've rung RBS and they have suggested that I write to their Archive Department requesting copies of my original loan Agreements and then check that PPI was applied. If I can prove that PPI is on these loan Applications, I can go back to them and ask them to re-open the case.

Apparently it takes 40 working days for the Archive Department to respond.

Just thought I would let you know in case anyone else has been rejected due to the time lapse (these loans were back in 1993-96). Even though they have the Account Number they do not have the loan amounts etc.

RBS are one of the worst ones I've dealt with so far. On Saturday I received 2 letters stating I should write requesting details as to whether any credit had ppi attached. Today I receive a text stating that they are dealing with my request and I shall receive acknowledgement within 5 working days.
  • Ive had success!
I have claimed back mis sold ppi on 2 loans I had with HSBC.
My reasons for mis sell are that my employer has an income protection scheme which would guarantee an income every month for me if I was off work on sick leave, payable up to the point I returned to work/retired/died (whichever came first).
Phoned HSBC on 9th Jan 2013. Received an acknowledgement letter plus questionnaire a week later. Sent this recorded delivery and was received by them 26th Jan 2013.
Received a letter on Saturday 2nd March (7 weeks after 1st call) to advise my complaint was upheld, and they have offered me £3749!!!
I am so so happy. This money will clear my overdraft, and allow me and my young family to start enjoying life, free from the worry of how we are going to pay the next utility bill that drops through the door. So so happy.
Just 1 question - the letter advises it will take upto 28 days to transfer the money. Does anyone know if they usually pay it quicker? I dont mind either way, just want to set my kids expectations as my son has already decided we need to visit 'the giraffe shop' (toys r us).
I still bank with HSBC, and have asked for the money to go into my current account.

For anyone still wondering whether they should reclaim mis sold ppi - all I can say is you have nothing to lose, and everything to gain!
  • This is my 1st post! Just wanted to say hI!
Having been unsure if any PPI was ever applied to my natwestloans over the years, I decided to just give them a call.
Phoned the natwest freephone number this morning, the guy checked through my account ( I've banked with them for 20 years) & sure enough I had paid for ppi unknowingly on 2 loans back in1995 & 2000. He was very helpful, he processed my claim within 10 mins & told me to sit back qnd wait for the process! (Up to 8 weeks for the claim to be investigated) Seems all too easy compared to the battles ive read about?

Depends on the reasons you gave for mis-sale.
